We're going to the auto show this weekend at the civic center. We never go downtown, so I'm looking for restaurant suggestions for lunch and maybe some other things to do since its supposed to be nice weather!

I have only gone downtown for dinner. We would eat at the duck and the dumpling and that was pretty good..

Fayetteville Street and those close to it have several restaurants. Depending on your taste and budget you will find something within walking distance from the Convention Center.

The City Market area has a few too. Its a nice area with Cobblestone Streets and a few places to eat. There is a Woody's Sports Bar. If you are there at night Rum Runners is fun. If it's lunch time Big Ed's is good country food. There is also Ri Ra real close which is an Irish Pub.

If you wander the other way towards West Street there is 42nd Street Oyster Bar and Napper Tandys. Although this may be a little far to walk.

The science museum and the history museum are on the other end of Fayetteville Street. Just walk past the old Capitol building a block or so. There are free and really worth the time.

    Hope this helps.

We've eaten there too, its wonderful!! Dh's only wish is that they had a hot pepper vinegar for the collard greens. BUT... other than that, the meat and side dishes were great! They have a nice selection of local and microbrew beers too.

the auto show at the convention center in downtown raleigh this week does not include all manufactures. at first glance lexus, ford nor gm are participating. i believe leith automotive group is the driving force for the auto show at the convention center this week.

the international auto show at the jim graham building at the n.c. state fair grounds on february 12-15 include all manufactures.

thanks for the info - we may end up going to both. One reason we're going to the one downtown is to see the new civic center and since the weather is supposed to be so nice, we may a day of it walking around. 8)

 I'll be out of town this weekend, but hubby was thinking of going, and the only two cars he's interested in are the new Mustang and the new Bumblebee! It sounds like maybe he needs to wait for the show next weekend then! That's ok, I really want to see the new Bumblebee, and I'm thinking (hoping) it will be out at the carshow...anyone know if it will be? (I'm a Transformers addict - can't wait for June to get here!)

Personally, I love Napper Tandy's. They have an amazing brunch on Sunday's and they have a great outside eating area.

I should know my fiance proposed to me there on October 12th!! :) He knows I don't like to be embarrassed so he'd made sure we were the first ones there outside and when the waitress left he asked me. It was so cute!!

I love my Johnston County Man!! (Go figure, I'm from South Jersey!! :) )
