UPDATE:Need Local Dentist ASAP Ok, I've read all the old threads regarding dentists. I am trying to find a new local dentist. My old dentist is in Raleigh & my last visit to try & get a crown did not go well at all (long story - longer than this post.ha). I kept meaning to change to a local dentist but I am one of those people who stick with the same things. Anyway, after getting shots from the endodontist & experiencing his again I know I need to change now. I was unable to get the crown there. I know everybody loves Dr. R's office but who there is VERY gentle? I saw Dr. Mullen's recommendations too & he is with my insurance. Anybody else? Do they all make you do consultations? I tried to go to Dr. R's office but the extremely nice & helpful hygentist I spoke to said they need to do a consultation even though I explained I've had a root canal and KNOW I have to get a crown. She did say they could maybe waive it if I got the crown there...and Dr. Mullen's website states the first visit is to get to know the staff, etc. which sounds like a consultation too. Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Side Note: Yes, I finally got the root canal & it was not that bad. If you need one & have to go to the endodontist, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Geraldine Bills in Cary. She & her staff were terrific. I can't take epi and when I could feel pain again, she stopped everything & reinjected me (my current dentist tells me we have to finish this but doesn't give more local). Same thing when she got in the "pulp chamber". Her shots didn't hurt just mainly some pressure. She explained everything she was doing - they even gave me blankets when I got so cold from nerves & the shots. I told her if she had anybody call that was terrified to give them my number & I would tell them how great she was! I have never offered that before.lol.
I go to DR. Godfrey and have been going there for years. I love them. They are off Aversboro Rd in Garner.772-8895
My son and I just got back from an appointment with Dr. Sims up at 4042. He's very gentle and that's important because I am an anxious patient. I know everyone on here loves Dr. R and that's great, I just started with Sims years ago and have no reason to change.
My hubby goes there and loves Dr. G and he is a LOT less expensive than Dr. R. I just get the feeling that Dr. R charges way too much money for what they do. You are probably paying for his fancy office decor.
I had a root canal at zombek on 42. she did all of it, no endodontist. I really like her. the practice is called clayton smiles.
Oh mayday, come on honey! You needed to ASK for Dr R (see him personally & tell him who you are on 4042.com)! He would have hooked you right up! Try his office next time, please? I get the *mind eraser pills* and they are AWESOME! Never feel a thing. LOVE him!!!
exactly, i am the honest to God biggest chicken of the dentist and Dr. R has always taken exceptionally good care of me because he knows how i am. i have not seen anyone else there but i do trust the fact that anyone he brings in to work in his office has to have his same philosophy. Mind eraser pills are the bomb (but scared to know what i say when on them). Dr. R. goes totally out of his way to make sure that he takes care of each and every patient the way that is best for them.
Thanks so much for all the replies. I really appreciate them all. I need someone good with injections because the dentist said he must have hit the nerve, which he said was his goal, but when he did my lips felt like they had been shocked (like static electricity but 10x stronger) and then went immediately numb. He then moved the injection to the side of my gum where there was no topical but I was so sick to my stomach I had to head to the bathroom. It was awful and I'll leave it at that. They did have me call when I got home & then the dentist called me himself that afternoon to make sure I was okay and explain what probably happened. He replaced an old filling 2 months prior and his shot was rough but I thought I was just being a baby. I also started having feeling when he hit the nerve in the tooth but he told me we had to finish but did not give me anything else - I just gripped the chair. Anyway, the endo's shots were nothing like that so I'm guessing that means I'm not a big baby but that his technique is less gentle than hers was...to put it politely. lol. Does Dr. Sims file & you pay your share or is it pay and file yourself? THANKS!
i have heard wonderful things about Dr. Sims but unfortunately, he accepts no insurance so you pay and file yourself.
There's the rub with him, I'm so used to it I don't think about it. No, he doesn't take insurance, you have to pay and then get re-imbursed.
I wouldn't let Dr. Godfrey touch me for anything in the world. Just an FYI, I go to Calamos and Marsh and LOVE Dr. Emrich! Feel free to PM me for more info on Dr. Godfrey. K
Dr. Lee in Clayton is my absolute most favorite! His staff are wonderful. There's no turn around, the same faces are always there. They really make you feel at home, and he's very gentle. He filled two cavaties for Mini Me with NO shot and she never felt the first twing of pain!
I love doctor Riccobene and staff.... I find him to be the best..I hardly even know he is doing stiff with the teeth. He is very good with the shot because sometime seven the novacaine shot can hurt and his do not. Yes they do like to do a complatet set of xray and such before starting. you can have them done and a cleaning and consultation all at once - so this way you are numb. you can do anything you want to my teeth and give me novacaise but I literally despise getting them cleaned. ....i know I know but I hate it. They did mine when they did the sedation....OMG - that waas a whole other story - i was a bit out of my mind with that stuff - heck I didn't even know I went to the dentist...lol totally painless and simple.....
I had a bad experience with her. My mouth is worse off because she didn't have enough experience. Dr. R is knowledgeable AND has great chairside manner.
