I'm going to throw this out there cause I'm a customer Service person/office for a store in our area. I want to know what you guys look for when you walk up to register from the cashier, or when you walk in the store. (think grocery store)
Is there such of thing of being to nice? Over welcoming?
What would you like do be done different?
    Tell me what bothers you!

Yes I'm asking for myself. :)

I absolutely HATE when a cashier is on a phone or having a conversation with someone else when they are ringing up my stuff!

Ok same thing except for the phone. The other night the cashier was talking non stop to the bag boy. It might not irritate some but it does me. I the customer is there give me your attention.

ok, I guess that could happen as far as someone talking to someone else besides you.

I like for them to at least acknowledge me when it's my turn in line by saying hello and then don't be afraid to thank me for my business.

I didn't mean that in any way. I just meant I am always friendly to the clerk and they are always friendly back. I just don't require much. If she wants to chit chat, I'll chit chat....if she doesn't and would rather talk to the cute bag boy (or whomever), I could care less. that's all.

yes, and DONT MASH MY BREAD. LOL

I HATE the grocery store..............I try to get out of that line as fast as possible.
A friendly greeting and a friendly goodbye is all I could ask for.

If there's such a thing as being too nice, I haven't seen it in a store lately! I just want the cashiers to be reasonably friendly and completely accurate. If they accidentally ring something up twice, I want them to notice immediately and correct their mistake, not wait to see if I noticed. They don't need to ask me at the checkout if I found everything I was looking for. I'm checking out, I don't plan to go back and pick up anything else now. If there was something I really wanted that I couldn't find, I would have asked somebody before I got in line to check out. If I ask a store employee - any store employee - if they have something, or where something is, if they don't know I expect them to find out.

I hate to be yelled at like that. That's why I don't go to Andy's or Moe's.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that. I just thought that was kind of silly. They do that in some shoe store, sometimes you don't even see the person you just hear them yell out, "Welcome to . . . "
