It seemed that with about 8 minutes left Duke ran out of gas, eerily similar to the Clemson game. I loved that the Heels just kept bringing it.

I was gonna say to hell with the Heels, they are just doing what they normally do week in and week out.

Now NCSU on the other hand beating Wake is much bigger news.

And the ****er of the whole thing?....the Duke/UNC game was on 2 channels while the State/Wake game wasn't even aired except over radio.

I was happy for State as well. Seems that when I was a kid, it was all about Heels against State. Now, it seems that State is not in the same tier as Duke or the Heels and marketing/media coverage reflects that.

Not to disparage State. And we always know that anytime the Pack is playing the Heels, that it's worthy of attention. Just like never counting out Clemson when anyone plays at Clemson.

Glad that State is getting some well deserved attention.

I think the biggest thing involved with State's lack of coverage is that basically since Valvano passed on the Pack hasn't had any decent recruiting for an entire team. They get one or two decent players a year, and I think part of that has to do with money that the schools throw around.

Due to the lack of being able to recruite a decent team year after year or atleast every few years keeps State's bench very shallow, and due to that shallow bench they can't run with teams such as Duke and UNC, who have a deep talented bench and can substitute at will.

Not to mention that when you get a star player like Hansborough (whom the refs love to protect) it makes it hard to run a decent defense.

Your assessment seems spot on as to recruiting etc. As for the "refs love to protect", wouldn't that also be similar to the "reality" shows that are so popular where the person or person who seems to draw the largest audience seems to get more than his or her share of "breaks'.

It's about bringing in the money and fame to the school...about keeping the boosters so happy they continue to fund things the university won't (and should not)...and keeping the school's name out in front...

Give the stud his due..he is better than most I've seen play the game.....
