    Should I take it?

They called today and have a "deal". I'm already bundled with phone, internet and cable. Their off is this:

For 2 years with only a $3 increase on my bill I can-

upgrade my phone (I have only nc/sc)
upgrade my cable (currently using "lite")
    get a DVR
    and Showtime.

I can cancel for free with in 60 days. After 60 days there is a $150 disconnect fee - that goes down $15 every month.

After the 2 years is up I can keep the arrangement or change it.

They say they are making this offer to us because they are loosing customers.

What would any of you do? I'm undecided. They will call again tomorrow for an answer. :allears:

I would be very careful with a contract from TWC.

they'll be expanding their trial of metered billing ($1 per GB) soon if you go over there low limit. Though what cities has not been release yet. My understanding is at some point it will be nation wide. For our family, we will not be able to stay with TWC for Roadrunner, because we would go over the monthly usage. We don't download with P2P, but play a lot of online games and legal music sites, along with movies online we easly go over the limits. I have been tracking our usage now for several months.

I guess the important question right now is can your family household budget afford to continue on with cable. I do know that many families are having to tighten their belts and temporarily cable/satellite is one item to go or be reduced.

Having said that, we signed a 2 year contract with them about 5 months ago. I am completely satisfied with everything. Our bundle is phone/cable/internet. We originally had an introductory price because they just moved into our subdivision. That lasted one year. At the end of the year they contacted us asking what they could do to keep us. I gave them a reasonable dollor amount which I refused to go over if they wanted me to remain with them, otherwise I was going to contact satellite companies. After wheeling and dealing, they came within 10.00 of my offer. I accepted and that was 5 months ago. I pay for phone/cable/internet what some folks pay for cable alone.

    Just an FYI...

DirecTV will raise the monthly rates of its programming packages an average of 4%, effective March 4. DirecTV's Select package, for example, will increase to $48.99 per month, up 6.5% from $45.99 per month. The Plus HD-DVR tier is being hiked to $75.99 per month, up 4.1% from $72.99 per month. The Basic tier will be $12.99 per month, a 30% increase from $9.99 per month, while the Family package will remain unchanged at $29.99 per month.

The offers from Time Warner are completely locked in for 2 years. After 2 years you can change your package with no problem.

Back in Oct. I took an offer for 2yrs from TWC to lock in my cable & roadrunner price. But... irks me that they just raised the DVR box rate from 7.95 to 10.95 per month. That almost a 40% increase, thats crazy!

I think the DVR price should have been locked in as part of my plan too!

Always be perfectly clear as to what IS and IS NOT in the package....

    A) I have phone service across the US (no extra for long distance, YEA) with caller ID and call waiting
    B) I have full cable in 3 rooms with 1 dvr in living room, but no Premium Channels like HBO or Showtime (we did away with those back a couple of years ago and have not missed them)
    C) I have internet service with next to the highest speed they offer.

The package has been exactly the same price 5 months in a row.

Our introductory price offered all of the above for 69.99 a month (same exact price 12 months in a row)

oh - and we had our son-in-law hook up the wireless so I can carry the laptop anywhere in the house (that was about 3 years ago and a great investment)

How much are all of you paying for your service?

    Here what we have...
    3 HD DVR Boxes
    Turbo Roadrunner
    No movie channels
    $143 a month.

I know we have some type of discount for a year, but we did not do the contact, because I don't want to be stuck with them, because of the soon to be usage Caps with Roadrunner.

The package I just commited to was Road Runner and Digipic 1000 for $89, and my DVR box was an additional $7.95, which just increased to $10.95. So after taxes, fees and the DVR box, I think my last bill was $105.

I was paying $125 (total w/taxes and fees) after my "intro" offer expired. We don't have any extra channels (HBO, etc.), and we have basic cable in 2 other rooms.

We also have set up our own wireless network for RoadRunner and don't pay the extra fee for that.

TWC loves jacking up their prices. We were with them for a few years and got sick of the mess.

Would anyone care to share their current bundle rate from TWC? I am considering giving them a try but need a good deal. We have had Directv for 8 years along with Embarq & RR Lite. Thanks!

    Basic cable = $22
    RR Lite = $25

Total bill = $60 (roughly with taxes and other BS)

Savings over my old cable bill = $70

Yearly savings = 1 mortgage payment and a little extra spending money

Do NOT sign a contract! Ask for "special pricing". It's almost as cheap as the bundle they quoted you and you don't have to sign a contract. This was the hour long phone call DH had last week.

Digital cable, road runner and digital phone unlimited nationwide.....$154.85

    Turbo-charged Road Runner.........................................................9.95

    taxes and government authorized fees...........................................9.68

    total...................................................................................$174.48

We do not have any DVR, premium channels; we do have the hi-definition channels (which do not work half the time - grr).

When we tried to call and make some sort of change to reduce this monthly amount, I was given a lot of crap about thinking I could get a better deal, and who told me that anyway, etc. It was suggested that I cut the turbo thing, but at this point we are spoiled and like how fast it is; when the son visits, he uses his laptop so we have that wireless thing that he hooked up for us (nothing to do with TWC).
So...are we getting ripped off big time? Just throwing it out there, and I am guessing we are, but it has just been easier to keep it the way it is, so I shouldn't complain. We have bigger fish to fry when it comes to the bills.
