A friend of mine's church is putting together care packages to send to our fighting men and women and thought I would see if anyone would like to donate anything. I know they have asked for shampoo's, conditioners ~ trial sizes. I asked her if they wanted some things like magazines for the ladies or anything like that, and she said sure.... So if anyone has any magazines, Ladies Home Journal, Redbook, etc, they want to get rid of, let me know. Make sure you take your address label off the magazine. I am sure the guys would like some type of magazine also (no playboy, penthouse or anything like that), but maybe Sports Illistrated, Outdoor Life, Men's Health, etc. I am taking over some things Wednesday night to her house.

They are also putting together a special box for Kyle.

Real quick ~ Kyle is doing fine. He really likes his job. Did tell me if it comes up for volunteers to go overseas, he was going to volunteer. He is still saying he is engaged, although they have decided to hold off getting married for at least another year. The young lady lost her mother recently and she is living with her grandparents, and her grandparents think the same way I do, so that is helpful. But all in all, he is doing well.

Ladies ~ I did stress to him that I needed some new pictures of him. LOL

I normally grab all the extra soaps, shampoos, conditioners and lotions from my hotel stays and donate them for the troops. I have another load to go!

PM me where to drop them off Monday or Tuesday.

We have a bunch of romance novels that I would love to donate. Let me know if that is something needed.

We can come pick them up or if you are over this way and want to drop them off, either way would be fine. I am going to my friend's house on Wednesday and I plan on taking what I can then and will check with her to double check to see how long they are taking donations.

This is a great idea. I will see what I can get together. I just donated 2 huge boxes full of my extras from the CVS deals over the holidays.

Here is a copy of an email I received from my friend in regards to care packages. Hope this helps as far as the needs and wants of these soldiers. Thanks to those of you that are wanting to help.

    FF,

What about the romance novels? We have plenty of empty boxes and my mother has them stacked up in her room and closet. Would love to donate them to a soldier or a group of them who likes that type of reading. I can bring them by or you can pick them up, since you know where we live.

    Thanks,
    Sherry

Sherry, I think you have to be VERY careful of that sort of thing in Iraq. Hopefully the OP will have some guidelines on that.

Sorry for taking so long to get back. I have been in bed all day due to not feeling well and am headed back that way as soon as I am done with this. Romance novels would be ok as long as they weren't too "steamy". Want to be careful.

I had not even thought about that aspect. Great catch. Sure would not want any soldiers getting in trouble for something we sent over.

    Thanks,
    Sherry

Hope you are feeling better. Think I will take kdc's advice and not send them because even the covers on some of them could be taken wrong by another country and/or religion.

Will try to help in another way.

Just told dear ole' mama that she's reading "porno" and I thought she was going to faint. Had to explain really quick and then I got a laugh.

    Whew,

Bumping this up....We have until sometime after the first of March to get anything that one would like to donate. Just send me a PM and I will try to meet up with you to pick up whatever you may have that you would like to donate.
