Well I have had a very busy morning. Had a car flip 5 or 6 times in my front yard. The kid got out of the car with just a few scratches on his arm. Had to force him to sit down on the front steps. Car is totaled and he needs to be very very lucky that he made it out of that car alive. I was just outside minutes before it happend and it scared me to dealth knowing that right where he landed with the car is where my daughter and my roommates daughter wait for the bus each morning. This was 30 min after the bus was here to pick them up. State trooper gave that kid a mouth full to think about. Said there was no way that he was going less then 65 miles per hour when he came around the corner and to land like he did in my yard. Now that they are gone, I have a report of the accident and information to file a report to have the yard repaired and all the glass ect cleaned up. The father said he would come back and clean it up if I didn't file a report, I need to know what you guys think I should do. This kid got 4 tickets and only has libilty for insurance.
You know what I think about is when his mother walked up to him and his dad and both me and my roommate were crying cause we do have kids and to think what was going through their minds when they saw him and that car. (got photo's) They have to be so thankful. If he was speeding, or what ever. I'm glad my kid wasn't here or he didn't hit my car (missed it by like 20 feet) or the house for that matter. He is alive! It is more important to me that is ok. I'm not sure what going happen to his driving record or if he will be able to drive again for a long time..but I guess I'm a softy and feel that if the father said he was going to come back today and clean it up today. If he does then why file a report..how long do I have to file this report?
I work right near there, and heard him peeling out around our office, I heard the tires squeal but did not realize the car had actually wrecked until I saw the EMS & Fire Trucks. I am so glad he is okay, it sounded horrible when he came by. The way he was tearing up the road in front of our office it sounded like completely reckless driving! Rush I am glad your crew is okay!
Me, personally I would give the mom & dad a chance to fix it on their own. Give them so many days and if they do not hold up their end file the report.
I would give the parents and especially the boy a chance to clean it up. My son had a one car accident about a year and a half ago. Ran off the road, over corrected and came to a stop in a lady's yard. Thought he was in the clear and then felt the truck tipping. He had come to a stop on 2 wheels. Truck laid over "nicely" on one side but the windows then shattered. It was close to 100 degrees that day. Let me tell you, it was a humbling experience for my son to be on his hands and knees picking glass out of that woman's yard. It took quite a while. He then had to repair the tire tracks in her yard. I think it would give that boy plenty of time to think about slowing down from now on. Most likely, his parents would be in agreement and it would save both of you the hassle of filing a report.. I'm so glad that he was ok. But I will say, if he were my child and he had 4 tickets...he would not have been driving anything bigger than a tricycle this morning. .....and we wonder why our hair starts to turn gray...we had children (God bless 'em)
Whether you file a report or not is a decision you will need to make. As for the boy, I don't know which one he was but I can tell you that the 3 young men who left together in a blue car were laughin' their behinds off as they pulled away from the crash scene. I was immediately behind them and as we sat at the light at the shell their were behaving in a manner such as "can you believe that, that was so cool!" Now, I could not hear them but because of the laughing and arm gesters and the bouncing up and down in the seats - they seemed pretty darn hyped up to me. those could've been 3 of his friends, i just don't know. but they were headed in the opposite direction of WJHS.
once, twice three times. Evidently has not learned. Don't feel bad for the parents. After the second time he would be walking. Thats is whats wrong with kids today, parents are not tough enough on them. File the report
Thanks for everyones input. I will not be filing the report. Reason is me and my roommate left to have lunch and when we came back there is no signs of anything in my yard, they cleaned it up so well. No glass or nothing. I really don't know how the got that glass up as well as they did. I was pleased with the fact they kept their word. If four tickets don't slow him down I don't know what else to say. He had a lot of respect for me and my roommate yes ma'm ect. The kids was so shocked and then the state trooper really laid into him. He scared me! He was on his way to school to take some exam, and he was more worried to the fact that they wouldn't let him retake it. I'm not defending him, but I do try to understand. I'm very thankful my kid or anyone elses kid was out there, and no more damage was done then what was out there. But, I'm more thankful that he is ok. I really try not to be to judgemental towards others, unless I need to be. Sheri
I don't know who that was, I didn't pay attention to no other car, but the one sitting bang up in my front yard. This kid was on his way to school to take a test. AS far as the ones that you saw, well why didn't they stop to see if he was ok, or if they were a witness to it would have been good to give their info..I would have never just kept on driving even if it made me late work work ect. Just my two cents. sheri
Just down a ways from your office, you can see where he lost control, he said he wasn't speeding, but seeing what your saying and what he said, and then the start trooper telling him he was a full of crap just from seeing what happend. you know he was speeding.
