Yep. If you're trying to make plans, I believe it starts on Good Friday, and runs through the week after Easter.

Because of the snow days last month spring break starts on the 10th of April and runs through the 15th, with students returning to school on the 16th.
Snow days should be null and void! :) Just freebies if you ask me.

It would sure be a shame for DD to be "sick" those 2 days while laying on the beach getting a tan

    Michelle,

It would be a shame for her to be sunsick.....

what fries my eggs is that this policy is just to meet the 180 school day requirement, which is a pretty ridiculous requirement. We all know those early release days, late start combo's where the kids go in late, leave early and it's still counted as a school day. It seems that the criteria for determining whether or not they have to make it up is if lunch was served.

Snow days are what the insurance folks would call "Acts of God", as they try to weasel out of paying for something they should cover...In my mind, if the Lord wanted it to snow, and Schools closed, it's not the fault of the kids, and they shouldn't be penalized.

    Rant off....

I agree - unless of course we were to get 20" again or something where they missed more than a certain amount of days. I thought they had 'built in' extra days to cover occassional snow days? Did we exceed those too?

and you know they won't really do anything major....cause kids and teachers will be gone if they already have plans.....

Yes you can pick 1 up from the front office. They will excuse them IF your trip is educational. Like for instance Disney world going to Sea world to learn about the whales etc. and the school will excuse it as long as you do something educational while on vacation.

You mean you have to have a reason to keep your kids out of school? My DD will be starting kindergarten this year so I have NO IDEA how all this stuff works yet. But I can't believe you have to give a reason like "doing something educational with them" for a few days out of school. Who is in charge here....me or them?

pretty much them. You can keep them out BUT it will not be excused. Which i think they are allowed 4 absents per 9 weeks. Not real sure BUT i filled out the form so mine would be excused incase they got sick later in year. You dont have to.

4 per every nine weeks - thats correct.

The four every 9 weeks is for excused OR unexcused absences. If you have more that four either way you can technically receive a 0 for that nine weeks. If you are excused you can make up the work--and that really only matters third grade and above.
