    Dog that needs a roof

I have to stay away. I was warned from another neighbor that sneaks and feeds the dog. That the spouse works from home and to be so becareful. That the neighbor whom feeds the dog fears for their own animals just in case one should get out of the house that this person would harm it. I am watching to see if someone comes to the house to check this out. Maybe I need to get a life, but right now I am this dog guardian angel. But I sure do not feel like one at this point. If I do not get him help maybe I will alert our county about how we should acknowledge our animal rights to protect them.
I feel sorry for the animal control. I know there is so many miles in Johnston county and only limited officiers to cover it. I know they are pushed beyond the means that allows them to get to all the animals that need them. So please everyone know I am not knocking our animal officiers they have so many to help. I am only one case. I am just screaming as loud as I can for this dog. Boy does it stink to know how life really is and we can only do so much. I love my 4042 family for all the emails and support thru my battle to help a four legged fellow friend. Keep praying for him for me.

Leave a note in their mailbox before the mail gets here this afternoon. (If it's coming today). It doesn't have to be nasty, but very strongly worded so the point gets across that the neighbors are NOT okay with this.

I believe leaving something without postage on it is against the law, I would not do that.

What's wrong with knocking on the door and saying here I bought your dog a dog house. Why be sneaky about it?

Hell, I have an extra dog house. PM me the address and I'll take it over there. The worst they could do is shut the door in your face.

Hope is on the way for our poor four legged one

Just got a great call from someone whom has some authority to do something and they are pushing for help today for this poor baby. Maybe help is in route we can only pray. I wonder from all my friends of 4042 if we take this dog house to the family and the party slams the door in our face, can he get me for slander just to start something with me? I am willing to walk up to the door with whom ever comes to bring a dog house but my cover will be blown then and I may be a victim of his next in some form. I am alone alot my husband travels and my younge daughter whom is almost 19 stays home to watch after our baby when I go see him. Those who surf this site may know me already. I just went out and it is getting colder and night fall will be here soon. I guess I will pace all night again if I do not get something done today. I know I have been posting since last night, I am sure everyone is tired of hearing me. But I promise I will keep everyone posted to the moment as I get news. And if someone has any ideas I am on all the time so you can send me a private message too. Thank you everyone so much you are an awesome family. I am proud to be a 4042 member .

Unfortunately, there aren't many laws to protect animals in this country and many are left up to individual counties.

Here, in most of Johnston County (unless you live inside the city limits of certain towns) all you have to do is provide a dog house which is supposed to be closed on three sides and big enough so that the dog can get in, turn around and lie down in --- from what the op stated, the dog can not get into the house because of his arthritis and his size - so there might be the foot to stand on.

The dog must have access to fresh water and be fed daily.

Other than the tether laws in Clayton, I am unaware of any other law "protecting" dogs from negligent owners.

Johnston County Animal Protection League (JCAPL) CANNOT go onto the property of the person in question without the owner inviting them. ONLY the police/sheriffs and Animal Control officers may do so without being charged with trespassing.

Two options: Get a large dog house, a tarp - some bungie cords, some kind of support post to run across the top of the kennel with about three people to help you and knock on the peoples door and inform them that their dog house is not up to standards for housing their dog and offer to do the job for them in less than a half hour and you'll be out of their hair - OR you will call Animal Control on them.

    OR

Get a good pair of wire cutters, an extra leash and collar, some dark clothes and a shot of courage - along with a little walk very late one night and the dog would find itself a new life somewhere. Oh yeah and bring a couple of dog biscuits to keep the pooch quiet while you break him out. 8)

Somebody left a note in the mailbox for the man who lives a few doors down with no postage on it. I hope he got fingerprints and can track down who it was so he can press charges. Thanks for the tip.

No help came today for the dog"

Zoo keeper if I thought I could clear the yard and sneak the dog out with cutting the lock off the pen I would.
What is wrong with this picture. I am going to call the county commissioner tomorrow. I am next going to call the news channell that helps get problems resolved for viewers. I wonder if she will do a dog getting help from the county?
Does anyone have that number available for that person? I am thankful that we are getting warm weather forecasted for the end of the week. I have eyes watching the situation constantly and the owner has done nothing for the dog. Bet he is sitting in his big nice warm house tonight while the dog watches and silently cries for help. If anyone else has ideas please bring them on.
I do not know what else to do now. I am at the final point that there is no help out there for this dog.

Please forgive more for trying to help someone avoid taking bad advice.

I thought you were involved with a law officer, do you not have any qualms about breaking the law when it comes to your needs?

Is the pen visible from the road? Maybe someone with a doghouse could say they were driving by, noticed the dog and came back with their unused doghouse? That way he wouldn't have to know it was due to you.
Also, what about a little cash for the dog? Seriously. Maybe we could take up a collection. He would probably be greedy, though, and ask for some huge amount just to torment us.

Maybe we should take this into pm's in case greedy man is reading. I'll contribute to the fund, btw.

    Neighborhood Mom,
I just want to say what a kind person you are for being that dog's advocate. Perhaps, if animal control makes a vist, you can meet them at the road with your offer of dog house and tarp. Otherwise, maybe a photo sent to the local newspaper and a story about how dogs being treated may help. I feel for you. It is hard to watch suffering and I am glad you posted.

it would be good if they were on here, at least they would know how we feel about animal abuse...

Someone like that wouldn't care. I've rescued animals that were so neglected the owner should have been up on charges.

I was concerned that if we did get up a collection, he would know it and ask for more. If we get up some and don't use it all, the rest could be used for vet stuff.

While I'm at it, I know of a medium sized dog that exists completely tethered. I have never seen the owners touch this dog or interact with him/her. I have several animals myself and can't take on another. If I can find placement, I will walk up to their house and offer them a bill or 2 for the dog. Would anyone on here be interested in providing a real home? All I know is he/she has medium length black fur and about 40 lbs or so.
