Honestly, as much as I dislike Embarq, I don't have that much trouble with their service. My email is not with them, however so I can't speak for their email service.

All I can say is I am so frustrated with Embarq. I pay for HIGHSPEED and its slow as a snail. Half the time we cannot even hardly type because of it being slow. Lately I have been booted off I don't know how many times. Then to top that off, my email does not work. I can read it, but I can't reply, forward or even type a new email. UGH!!! Sorry to vent!

We were suppose to be at 10 megs but they said we were about 600 ft too far away from something so we can only get 5. We were running 10 and then started having problems and 1/2 time can't even run at 3. They are suppose to be putting in a new line or something tomorrow. DH handles all the calls with them so I just hear what he tells me about what is going on.

For all of you that are having problems, do you call and complain and keep calling until the problem is fixed? Did you contact person I posted info about that with Embarq? I would not keep paying 50+ a month for internet if I had all the problems you guys post, that just me. When I first got Embarq I had some problems, but someone directed me to the online support guy I posted, and he was able to get our problems sorted out in a few days and it been running perfect for about 2 yrs now. For example right now I am having nothing but problems with our TWC HD service. 4 Techs later and one manager to our house the problem seems to be fixed. If should not be this much trouble for the paying custormer to have problems resolved, but that what it took. So I am sure it the same with Embarq, it all about finding the right person to fix the problem and being a pain in the a$$ until it gets fixed.

Just saying this day and age I would not keep paying for something if the company cannot get it fixed. I have service from both Embarq and Roadrunner, so I am bit lucky if one goes out I have the other as backup.

As for the avatar, let me start working on finding a new one since you don't like it. :grouphug:

Embarq is a ripoff. At my location, I can only get the 3 mb service, which costs the same as TWC's 16 mb service  I miss the days of downloading (free ;) ) movies in a matter of minutes.

10 Mbps down(16 Mbps PowerBoost)512 Kbps up. I would really not call that 16 Mbps as PowerBoost only last a few sec. How did you get such a good price on that speed from TWC? I have the 10 Mbps service with them which is Turbo, and it costs me like 49.95 a month. When I had Embarq 3 Mbps service it was 24.95 a month. I have since upgraded to Embarq 10 Mbps service and it around the same price as TWC.

By the time they force you to have a phone line - which I don't use - it's basically the same price.

Had some issues yesterday, nothing major, today seems to be fine.

I started keeping a log and when I get my bill, I TELL them what I'm gong to pay.
I'm NOT paying for a phone and internet service when it doesn't work. :boxing:

I did not take that into account, as we use the phone service from them. Not to make calls, but for our alarm system. If TWC network was on backup power I would switch to them for phone as it a heck of a deal, but I need to make sure our alarm is always working and with TWC that not the case. You can also get DSL now without the phone service. Friend of mine just got it. Was not easy to do, but he managed to get it. Told them he was going to leave otherwise.

    http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Embarq-Improves-Hotline-For-The-Particularly-Annoyed-96913

In an effort to improve customer satisfaction, Embarq has announced the "enhancement" of a support hotline for particularly annoyed customers. Customers who didn't get the help they needed from the general consumer help line have always been able to call the company's Consumer Affairs Hotline at 800-877-3345, but now the company promises they'll get working on a resolution within 24 hours. "If we treat our customers as our best friends, we build customers' trust and loyalty," says company spokesperson Dana Chase, who insists she wants to be really annoyed customers' "BFF" (best friend forever) in the company press release. If customers are really angry, they may get a friendship pin and/or bracelet after gym class.

They turn me down everytime I ask for naked dsl. Now that I think about it, my bill is about 70/month for 3mb dsl and basic phone service...that doesn't sound right.

Love dslreports.com btw, been going there for years.

That sounds about what my bill was when I had the 3mb service. I guess it is expensive now that I think about it, I just got off the phone with TWC and they would set me out with Nation wide phone for 12 months for 19.95 a month. I guess it some special. If it was not for our alarm, I would be tempted to do it.
