    hi,

I couldn't find a previous thread about this (maybe I was using the incorrect search wording) but, is there somewhere to donate paperback books? I have quite a few current author/titles (James Patterson, David Baldacci, Nora Roberts, Dean Koontz) that I just hate to throw out but don't have any use or room for them now that I have read them.

    Thanks,

    Barbara

I'm sure Ron at Basic Needs Ministry would love to have them.

Don't pitch them out yet. Daughter of a friend just reported into Iraq. Her Navy squadron may want these. Let me email her and ask.

Cleveland Library's collection is larger than 3 Johnston libraries.

Here are the Johnston County public library collection sizes, listed from largest to smallest collections.

    Smithfield
    Clayton
    Benson 25,000
    Cleveland over 21,000
    Kenly
    Four Oaks
    Princeton

The Cleveland Library is targeted to excede Benson's collection size by the end of May.

Volunteers are needed to stick the bar code labels on the books and others to catalog. Shelf builders are needed. Catalogers train on Thursday evenings from 6-9 with our UNC-CH MLS candidates. The catalog is Web-based LibraryWorld and we are planning to upgrade to Koha.

What do we need to provide to Cleveland residents?

The library card is free to any Cleveland resident, others must pay a $10 non-resident fee.

Edward McKay's used books and more in Raleigh is really good. If you take the ones you don't want, you can get credit to get new ones too.

Also my friends church is still accepting donations for care packages they are getting together to send to a group of soldiers. If you want to donate them, send me a pm and we can arrange to meet up.

Be careful about sending them to the troops. I didn't think about it when I wanted to donate my mother's romance paperback books. Seems those covers could get our troops in trouble in certain countries.

We now have a place in the Lowe's Foods shopping center in Clayton on highway 70. Pauper's Books and More, 11801 Highway 70 West, Clayton Corners Shopping Center, 919-550-2777. They buy and sell new and used books, cds and dvds. They have a great selection. They even have the Twilight series. Call and see if they will purchase the ones you have or trade them.

Don't forget Pauper's Books in Clayton, same shopping center as Lowe's Foods, beside Jersey Mikes. He does buy some books from you if they are what he's looking for. You can either get cash or store credit.

If you wanna make a little money (just a little), you can SELL your used books, paperback and other at Edward McKay's (two locations in Raleigh). They don't give you much but if you're in the area, it's worth it.
