DH and I went several months ago, we thought it was great. DH had the ribs, and I had the pulled pork. The meat was great and nice and moist, the sides are good.. I had the sweet potato fries and mac n'cheese. DH had the collards and probably french fries. His only complaint was they didn't have any kind of pepper vinegar for the collards. The service was great, the menu has some great local beers on it too. It is a little pricey but much nicer than your average bbq joint. We'll go back again. You might want to call about a reservation though, we just went on a whim, and the girl at the hostess stand asked me if we had a reservation. Even though we didnt, they were able to seat us right away. So I don't know if reservations are really necessary or not. http://www.thepit-raleigh.com/
Hubby and I eat there about once a month or so. It is DELICIOUS!! I always order the beef brisket just because they make it better than anyone else, IMO. They have a good variety of sides, too. It is what I call "White Collar BBQ." Check it out!
If you like brisket check out Holy Smokes off Wilmington at 335 Tryon Rd. And they have the best Mac'nCheese.
Tried The Pit last night with friends. Overall we thought the food was good but pricey. Ribs are delicious and not that pricey. We tried both the baby back and Carolina style ribs. The baby back were better in our opinion. Less bone and less fat. Fall off the bone tender and great flavor. One couple spent $30.00 plus tip for two (2) chopped barbecue pork plates and iced tea. They said the next time they want chopped pork barbecue they will drive to Parkers in Wilson. The collards and sweet potato fries were delicious. Vidalia onion rings were just OK. Bannana pudding got mixed reviews. It was cold. We will return for the ribs and sides. On a side note Ed Mitchell of The Pit and Bobby Flay had a throwdown yesterday in Raleigh. It will air in May on the Food Network Channel. http://www.newsobserver.com/news/story/1442290.html
