OK, it looks like I completely missed something today!

This isn't directed at anyone it just got me thinking.
What is the point of an ignore button on a discussion forum? I mean I just skip over it or just read it if it's in a discussion that I am reading and move on. In one ear (eye) and out the other. I have never put anyone on ignore.
Just my opinion.
