Seabee, thanks for having my back. I thought comments distinctly reflected that I appreciated the efforts that homeowners on the board do and was complaining that the management company, for my money, was not worth what we are being charged. Add that, having served on a board, that I was well aware that it wasn't a pleasantry all the time. With due respect, Lucidity, I don't call out folks by name, unless they have indicated it was fair to do so. That was uncalled for, as was the comment about #'s of posts. If you felt that calling me out was necessary, you could have PM'd with with the personal stuff, and allowed your public comments to speak for themselves. Since I don't live on Galaxy, I am unaware as to what benefit I get from the gravel having been placed there. If it's one of those "for the greater good of JR", so be it. As for the comment about not performing the lawn maintenance on our side, I guess we feel that if it's unattractive, and nothing is being done about it, it's up to those of us who live in our little corner of the world to fix our little corner of the world. If I wait for the HOA to mow and maintain, I have concerns that if it gets done at all, it will be hit and miss. I have more pride in my home and area than that, as I'm sure you do. The refrain, "Let someone else do it", seems to denigrate using one's own initiative to solve a problem. Why should I have to be the one to search to find what benefits I get from my HOA. One would think that if you perceived (and by the tone that I interpret from your posts-a nerve was struck) that I was slamming the JRHOA, then another response might have been to positively persuade me of the finer things the HOA does, and some of the plans and frustrations we all might share. Perhaps if the HOA reached out to homeowners with the ease you demonstrated commenting on my posting, perhaps some of the flaps that we undergo might be avoided.
No problem there are those here I will... Heck I mow my neighbors strip along the road, I'm out there anyway and it only takes extra 5min or so, not that they don't do it they do and a good job but I do it when I'm out there unless they have it done. Its the neighborly thing to do... there was this other house a foreclosure and I did that one also because no one lived there at the time it looked bad and needed done again the neighborly thing to do... HOA probably have more marks against them then for them IMO... right or wrong...
Our neighbor does that, bless his heart (really)... But I sure wish he'd raise the blade a little. He cuts it down to the dirt and gives it bald spots.
I don't know how it works, as we don't have any HOA here, but wouldn't it make sense for a newsletter or something to be sent out to the homeowners who are paying into something, so they are informed about what is being down with the money they must pay into it? Some sort of progress report? Or maybe a survey asking what people think need to be addressed? I would think if I was paying money into something - like my mortgage - I would like to know how the money is being used. JMHO.
I'm sure people all know who you are but if you tend to be incognito; that's fine also. So I apologize. As for post count....just a ball buster. You know me better than that. It seems your issue is that you've been barking up the wrong tree when there is an issue in the neighborhood. If you percieve your small utopia at Sparkle Lane a seperate identity of Jordan Ridge is where your problem lies. With that thought things won't happen. The new board seems to be more proactive and have learned from the past of the old board. When you bought your house it was clearly stated that your property and house is in a HOA. Stop crying about it and help others out. Sorry thats what I am hearing and other board members also. I'll be happy to suggest bringing someone on from Sparkle Lane if you'd like. Volunteering? Sorry I'm not in to "PMing" others when you are publicly "criticizing" your own neighborhood. Doesn't make sense? If you read in the earlier post that there were issue with lawn car last year that will not happen this year for all entrances. Again if you have an "issue" all the appropriate e mails are listed on Jordan Ridges website. Sorry If I come across "proud" of our neighborhood but it gets old listening to folks point out the problems with out addressing the issues. You know you didn't strike a nerve and you and your family are always welcome at my place. Don't be a stranger and I'd luv to sit down and talk about your concerns. Eric <<< not afraid of names here.
Lucidity, At this point, words fail to describe my take. Let's agree to disagree, and go about our way. I choose not to engage in a urinary competition. We don't see eye to eye, obviously. H6
