Thanks! She hardly ate anything yesterday, but she is still sleeping right now.
She won't be going to school again today either. This is so not like her.
I think she needs another day of rest.

Today will be the fourth day for her laid out with this. It has really drained her. She said yesterday she feels heavy and can't move.
So I will keep her home again today.

If you can keep your temp down with the meds, there really isn't any reason for going to the docs. They couldn't do anything for DD when she went.
Unless you think you have something else.

3 days out, she isn't going to school again today. Just to weak. I'm not even sure how many days she can miss from school. Never had to deal with it before.

She can only miss 4 days per 9 weeks without consulting the school/principal. They are usually pretty good about that though. We had to deal with the same thing last year.

Well this will be your fourth day this nine weeks. She had perfect attendence till now. She is upset enough about that.
I called the school yesterday and this morning and they won't connect me with the teacher to get some school work for her to do. I have left message for the teacher to call me back. No call yet. Other then that, I guess I need to call back and talk to someone else.

I know last year when she had her surgery she was out for 1 week and the other week was spring break. Never had a issue then.

My Grandson (5 yrs old) went back to Wake Med on 42 on Monday evening because he spiked a fever again and started having seizures. The ambulance came and they brought him to Wake Med Raleigh and my wife was at the hospital till 3:30 A.M. He has been diagnosed with pnuemonia(sp).

Monaco! That must have been so scary!! I hope he's doing better... I didn't know high fevers can cause seizures!... Scary

They sure can, they are called "febrile" seizures and while very scary to the parent, are generally harmless and cause no lasting problems. However, DS had one once and I was in full-on freak out mode. Never had another one, of course, he's never run 104 temp again either.

Accually I talked to the lady that handles all that mess. And she said my daughter was fine. She will not be going back to school the rest of the week.
I have doctors notes for the whole week, and she said that was fine.
They were great with me on the phone and she even went out of her way to get my daughters teacher to call me.

oh no I'm sorry to hear that, I hope he feels better soon. As I was told high fevers are something not to mess with.

So far my daughter hasn't run a fever since Tuesday morning. Took her to her regular doc and she is now on the early onset of bronchitis, so she is on meds for that now. She was coughing so bad and she has had this before a few years ago. So I knew something wasn't right today. She took a 2 hour nap this morning after getting up, and now she has been asleep for about a hour now. I haven't seen her this sick since kindergarden.

So sorry about everyone being so sick. But glad I remembered this thread. My 5 yr old woke up this morning with a 101.6 temp, and complaining of a bad headache. He looked like death, poor guy. He's the one I have that gets sick a lot, and will go downhill quick if we're not careful.

I use motrin and only motrin in my kids, although I was wondering, thought I had heard somewhere you could use both that and tylenol, so if it's still high tomorrow I might alternate the two. His fever would go down to about 99 with the motrin and he'd feel a little better, but not good enough. The only things he complained about were his head and then his neck (he called it his back). And he said his knees were shaky, I think he meant weak. Luckily he's been thirsty and drinking a lot, last year he got so sick he was on IVs for dehydration, don't want to go through that again!

Sheri, I hate your daughter's been sick for so long, hope she's feeling better now, and sure hope my little one isn't sick for that long...We all just got over a very nasty stomach bug 2 weeks ago and he had to miss 2 days of school, I'd hate for him to have to miss more.

She is much better now, Friday was the turning point for her, even though she still needed to take a nap in the afternoon. Being 8, taking naps she said is not cool. She will be going back to school on Monday.

I hope you little guy gets better soon, it really knocked my DD on her butt for a week, I hope he doesn't have the same thing.
It was every four hours Motrin and every 4 hours for the tylenol, so that would mean every two hours she was taking one or the other. With just the tylenol I couldn't even get it under 100.
    Keep us posted.

    Relenza

Just an FYI, if you can get a flu diagnosis within the first 48 hours of the onset of symptoms, the anti-viral being prescribed for Type A strain worked wonders for our household. The anti-viral is called Relenza and it made a world of difference in our son's speedy recovery. That being said, my DS said it felt like the nurse poked his eyeballs out when she swabbed his nose for the test :~(

My DD has the exact same symptoms, she woke up with a high fever on Friday, got it down, then has been complaining of a headache, stomach hurting, no appetite, etc. And the fever keeps coming back. I took her to the Doc on Friday and they tested her for strep and just said it was a "virus". We are at McGees too, and the litte girl across the street was complaining of the same symptoms, crazy! Looks like DD will be out again tomorrow too if her fever is not better :(

THANK GOD my son seems to have gotten over this quickly! I gave him motrin as much as possible, and it seems to have only lasted about 36 hours. By lunchtime yesterday he was over it, and outside playing.

Of course now my 9 year old is saying his ear hurts. He's going to school, but I'm going to see if I can get him into the dr after school today. He doesn't ever complain about much, so I'm guessing it probably really is something. 2 years ago we found out he had an ear infection during his annual checkup. He had gone a while with it hurting and he never told me!

I hope your 9 year old is feeling better soon.
Mine would have gotten over the fever thing if she had not gotten the other mess she got. She is still coughing pretty hard, she starting laughing at our Chihuahua last night cause he was acting silly and she had a hard coughing fit that ended up with her throwing up a little. What a mess that was.
