of course I plan to jump into my rountine tonight with both feet, though instead of doing my toning routine, I think I'll get into my bulking up routine in honor of the holiday and all.

There's an ad in the classifieds here for a WII Fit, still in the box for $110. Second page of classifieds, just posted today.

Ok I went in this morning and got on the weight machines. LOVE 'em! Then I got on a bike thing for 20 then the treadmill for 20. I tried the elliptical, God bless y'all that do that!. lol ... maybe I found it difficult because she put me on the one with the longer stride... whatever... I think I'll have to practice baby steps on that one. I did the weights first because that's what she showed me first.

Which is best to start with? Weights or treadmill/bike/elliptical? Does it matter?

The salesguy told me that EA Games was coming out with another "Game" that they are taking pre-orders on. It has more of the same, yoga, strength and balance games, a fitness trainer. Sounds to me, like the one that comes with it, but I don't know since I haven't even opened the box yet

I normally do 20 min of cardio (eliptical) then do free weights and machines, then some stretches, crunches and finish with 30 min of cardio (treadmill). Its best to do some sort of cardio to warm-up before doing weights. The elipticals do take some getting used to

same board but with some modules/games there are extra controls.

As an example, right before christmas I saw a hi-intensity step program for the wii fit that added risers to be used with the balance board as your level increased.

... I just got back from the gym and my arms feel like lead! But it's GOOD! So far the hardest part is adjusting the machines for longer legged people.. the leg press was funny. I nearly had to put my knees to my nose (which is a hard trick for me) to get in and back out. It wasn't pretty lol And getting the pin thing back in the hole to adjust the weight isn't so easy either. ...Felt like a fool half squatting there trynna get that dang pin back in! But I did it! All but two of the machines...don't remember what they were... legs maybe?... I'm still learnin'

I did a routine like Bandmom. Cardio, weights (machine, not free) and cardio again.

I want to thank every one for all the replies. :)

We got it out of the box this weekend! We played with some of the balance games on Saturday, and last night I worked out with it for about 45 minutes and let it kick my butt! :jester:

    What a great topic

I have recently started a program for myself, I was looking at buying a new swim suit this season and began to question why I wore a tankini last year, on what day last year did I decide to take that leap??? I have decided that just because I have just turned 33 does NOT mean that I can no longer wear a two piece. I still have a good body and I have been working for two months to make it better. I have been on my elliptical every day, except one, for 24 minutes on the setting of intervals, which rotates from a resistance of 6 to 12. I have also been walking a mile and a half every day that it doesn't rain. I really would like to try the Ab Lounge but don't want to dish out 150 bucks if it doesn't work. Has anyone out there tried this product? Just wondering before I buy. I have to keep my exercise routine at home due to having small children and no sitter.

how many calories are y'all burnin at the gym?????? i gotta find out if i am normal!

  14. Good Lord! I can't imagine a beginner doing any of that unless they use 5 - 10 pound weights! (which I use and I'm not a beginner!)

  15. I go to the gym 3 days a week/ 30 -40 minutes on the treadmill, a few free weights for my arms, and some pilates a la Denise Austin at home. That's it. Sure, I don't look like a bodybuilder but I haven't gained any weight since I lost my baby fat from my last baby almost four years ago!!! Now, if I want to lose weight (and not just maintain) I think I'd have to up the weight training a little. The combo of cardio and weight training is a must for me!

  16. I think, hands down, pilates is the best workout for abs!!! I had a C-section in August 2005, by summer 2006, I abs were flat and rock hard just from watching Denise Austin's pilates DVD. I think it was only 10 minutes a day. I've slacked off lately though. My abs aren't so rock hard. By the way, I'm 33 and I only wear bikinis. Who cares if there a little extra fat here and there. Look at Marilyn Monroe!!! She was sexy even when she was a little plump. I'd rather see a little fat than someone's ribs!
