I have one for the first time ever. I could not do the treadmill AT ALL today, and I planned on training for 5k. I can't put any pressure on it without wanting to cry. What have you used that works?
Go see a podiatrist. They may have to freeze it off. Looks like you might not be running in this race:_( PS They are contagious, so when you walk barefoot around your house and in your shower, you can pass it to your family members. I would go to the Podiatrist asap.
DH had one last year... PAINFUL! Our regular Dr prescribed an ointment of some sort.. seems like it was a type of acid. He would apply the acid and cover it an adhesive pad with a hole in it. He would have to sand it (used my dang nail file! I pitched it!) as it worked it's way out. I can't remember how long it took... maybe a month...? not sure...
you can also get them on your hand if you touch it a lot. i had to let the dr freeze mine years ago. they can be very painful.
You can buy Dr. Scholl's Freeze Away at any drug or grocery store. We buy the one that is in a blue plastic container, states 1 treatment, has 12 disposable applicators and 1 reusable activator. The instructions are simple and if followed correctly the wart along with the root will be taken care of. Because of being an athlete my teen gets the virus every so often and we made the decision a while back to take care of it/them at home. Make sure to keep the shower, bathroom floor and tub very clean because it is a virus. Good luck, Sherry
I got that for DD cause she had some of her hands, just regular warts and since she hates doctors it was the way for us. You know it took several times to do it and they never just fell off. Then I noticed one day she didn't have them on her hands anymore. I asked her where they went and she said just scrubbing them off over and over when she was washing her hands. I'm sure it had more to do with freezing them, and doing what she said she was doing. I never got one, and she had them for a few years. Sheri
my brother had them when he was little and the dr gave him some type of liquid acid that he would have to put in the "wart" area after he scraped that spot with a needle. you can see your regular dr for that.
both of my boys had one on the bottom of their foot, yes, the exact same place on the same foot....they are twins afterall....and I bought the stuff that freezes them off.....it's kinda pricey, but it worked. took about 8 days and it was gone! this stuff here..... edit: what sherry said.:mrgreen:
It's funny you should say that because I was thinking in the back of my mind that I had read that in the People's Pharmacy column once.
They claim it works... maybe spray wd 40 on it then the duct tape... Something in the duct tape that destroys the wart I think... LOL
Go to a podiatrist if you want it done right. The procedure is simple, but kind of gross. I had one as a teenager and took care of right away because I was always active and didn't want it to slow me down. They numb you up, cut it out and (Gross part) dig it out with some sort of spoon-like aparatus. Apparently the foot heals pretty fast so there was no need for stitches, but I did have a gnarly little hole in my heel for a short time. The thing has never come back (which they are prone to do if you do not do it right).
I know this may sound weird, but I had one on my thumb. Take tagamet. It went away within a week. I SWEAR BY IT!
I read something about using a banana peel too, you tape a piece on over night or something along those lines. Google it. Freeze Away would probably be a more sure thing.
I agree on Tagamet. I had a plantar's wart on my heel about 8 years ago. I went to my family practioner a few times, she tried to freeze it but it didn't go away. After that I took Tagamet (at her request) twice a day and it was gone in a couple of weeks.
I have never had one, but I worked for a guy that had one on his foot and he use to sit in front of me at my desk and take his shoe and sock off and pick at it. I gagged so much!!! he also use to floss his teeth at my desk. Thank goodness I no longer work for him! He as the grossest man I ever worked for in my life!!!
He was/is a realtor in Smithfield. His office, well, you could not hardly walk in there due to trash, magazines (all kinds including the "bad" ones), I mean you could not walk in there without being afraid of slipping and falling. This was a job that I got after I moved here. I was in the "front lobby", if that is what you want to call it, and neither me nor the other girl were allowed to talk unless he was talking to us. He had tons of liquor underneith the sink in the kitchen, did not want us to wear perfume and refused to spray in the bathroom when he went. We were not even allowed to warm up our lunch in the microwave. He sat in front of my desk because it was the cleanest area in the whole dang office! He was really gross. He would make vulgar comments about the girls that came in and all kinds of stuff. It was bad. This was the only job I have ever been fired from and he fired me thru the mail before I had gotten released from the doctor to go back to work. (had some surgery)
