So DH just called and was attempting to touch up his dress shoes for a meeting this morning with one of those liquid shoe wax things. Somehow the entire top came off and he says cordovan colored liquid shoe polish is now splattered on my light berber carpet. I told him to leave it alone til I could figure out what, if anything might take it out. I haven't seen the damage yet, anyone got any ideas? I'm afraid to go home.

Yeah, I'm sure oh ****! was about exactly what he said, LOL.

I've been googling and will probably try rubbing alcohol first. And I'll be praying when I'm down there scrubbing. :?

If you can't get it out, it's not too hard to just cut out and replace that area of the carpet. If you don't have a remnant left from the original installation, you can swap out a piece from a closet.

    Oh *** is right.....

All I can say is whatever you think to try to get it up with, blot the heck out of it first and to try to soak up as much of the shoe polish as possible.

You probably would need some really strong spot remover that works well on ink and dyes, but will not hurt the color of the carpet, and then use a steam cleaner (water extraction) style machine with extremely hot water to try to work out the stain.

Maybe hair spray? They say that works on ink spots. Or maybe you can go to the website of the polish maker and find some tips.

OK, all you folks need to get a can of Spot Shot. It was pretty bad, dark almost blood colored in several large drops and one large splotch. Most of it is gone, I have one place left that is still purplish, but I'm getting there. No one is going to have to bail me out of jail.........yet. Combination of the Spot Shot and rubbing alcohol.

I know some people with lots and lots of farm land and people with backhoes. They'll never find the body.

I'm just sayin' Hubby knows not to **** me off... I have those type of connections.
