Does anyone know of a place that offers Toddler (2 year old) swimming lessons around here? I am interested in signing my 2 year old son up for swim lessons this spring/summer but I can't find anything close by... He loves the water so I really want to start him... Thanks!
I haven't been involved with any of these classes. However, my son has been taking scuba lessons at the Gypsy Pool for the last couple of weeks & I've watched some of the swim classes going on while I was waiting. It looks like the kids are having a great time and the instructors seem very friendly. We have been to Riverwood and also Health Quest in Smithfield. We liked Health Quest the best. Good luck!
Ann Stephenson does lessons out of her private pool in Willow Springs and I have sent my son there since he was 2. She does not baby the kids so if you are looking for a program where the kids aren't going to be challenged to learn then she isn't for you. The Rex Wellness Center over here in White Oak offers them too, not sure of the price but I do know you dont have to be a member!
campbell college does them. and if you do a search on here and type in "swim lessons"....lots of threads come up with lots of information.
I also would HIGHLY recommend Ann Stephenson. She is no nonsense though, so it's a little tough to stomach initially with your little one crying. BUT they learn a heck of a lot more in a shorter period of time then through the Y or Pullen Park.
Swimming I also highly recommend Ann, she is great! We started our son with her when he was 16 months old, amazing what he's learned over the past 2 years and he's only 3 years old.
All 3 of my children have taken with Ann. (10yrs, 7yrs, & 3yrs) She is great. As others have stated she does not baby the children which in my opinion they don't need to be when they are learning the safety around water. My 10 yr took lessons as well when he was younger from Campbell. At that time I thought I really liked it but after taking with Ann I realized that he really didn't learn that much with the other 50 + kids there. Ann's classes are very small and personal.
