So, now that I have yard full of baby trees and whatnot. I have about a dozen crepe myrtles... BABY crepe myrtles that I don't want to die. They're all budding (leaves or flowers - I don't know which... they're just budding) and what my question is... will this up coming frost kill my gonna be gorgeous trees? if so how can I help'em? TIA
Shouldn't be that hard of a frost... Your crepe's are already budding up.. Early ones.. Mine aren't even close to showing anything yet. If you are concerned you could cover them with sheets....
These are the first CM I've ever owned and are only about maybe 3ft high IF THAT. They are the dynamite red and have burgundy buds coming off of them now. So I don't know if that is leaves or flowers. You tell me!
I have 20 crepe mrytles thru out my yard and all have buds 1/2 inch long already. I wouldn't worry too much about them. Nature does its thing and everthing comes back more beautiful.
Now I'm going to have to take a look at mine again, I certainly didn't notice any new growth yet on mine... Although it should be getting close I would think.
I'm just happy my Japanese Maple is getting it's leaves back....it was looking pretty bad without leaves. I love Spring!!
I'm just tickled to pieces that just about all the mess we planted last year is budding or already has leaves.
I love my Japanese Maple, its the "orangeola" variety, cutleaf, short and the branches fall beautifully! Its just gotten all the leaves and its a great maroon color!! I hope the cold tonite doesn't hurt it.
don't feel bad, some crepes come out soon than others, mine just started spouting a little bit of green. My crepe and my sugar maple i worry about every year cause they are such late bloomers but every year they come back strong.
very correct. there are many varieties out there... and as I looked this eve some are greening up while the others are later on.
