File this one under things I had NO idea about. Grow your own Loofah (Luffa) sponge. It's a vegetable! Not something harvested from the sea. http://www.groovygreen.com/groove/?p=689
Funny you mention the loofah sponges. I bought a loofa sponge gourd plant at the new Clayton Farmer's Market for a dollar on Saturday. I can't wait to see how it does. Wouldn't that make cool Christmas presents? Loofas you grew yourself? I also bought a white sage plant for a dollar. My mother in law has an indian friend that uses this for smudge sticks (I think) in ceremonies. She has a hard time keeping sage alive where she lives in the mountains so she wanted me to give it a try. One thing I liked about the small group of vendors that were at the market Saturday was a lot of their stuff was really unique. One guy grew mushrooms in a log. He also was selling elephant garlic and bags of seeds(?) to grow your own. Very cool. DB's wife
