Anybody on here had this happen? Ours did it last night. I will be checking to see today if it is under warranty. If it is not, does anyone know of anyone locally to fix it? May end up just buying a new one if it's too much $$ to fix. I saw some guides to DIY last night, and DH is perfectly capable, but more research indictated a lot of them are scams.
OUCH! My son has told me about this and there are planty of "videos" out there on the web explaining how to repair it on your own. Having a shop do it is about as much as buying a new one from what I understand.
Sounds like your Xbox is a late bloomer. Hubby's did that, I'm going to say about a year ago. He called they shipped him a box to sent it in,he shipped JUST the box (no wires), they fixed it, and shipped it right back to him in about a month (maybe). In the mean time, he bought one pulled just the box out of the package played on that one. Kept the receipt and when his came back in he returned the one he bought. Hopefully yours is still under warranty. That sucks for the boys.
had it girl....you'll just send it back to them, they'll fix it and return it back to you. Heck , they'll send you the box to ship it in too. If you need the 800 number, let me know. If you have the original manual it's in the back.
That's good to know. Thanks!! We've had it several years, so there is the question about whether the warranty is still on or not. I have to get the serial # this afternoon when I get home. What a pain though!
we had had ours for some time too....it won't matter....there was a default in some of them, so they will check it, fix it (if that's it, which it most likely will be) and IF its something other than the normal red ring of death, they will call you and tell you, and they'll either fix it for you at your request (and cost) or send it back to you. They make it super easy, really. I thought it was going to be a hassle, but they have it streamlined.
You know... for some reason I think they are covering the red ring irregardless if it's still under warranty or not. I could be wrong but I think it's covered. Hubby's had his for quite a while when his happened. I'll see him in a bit and ask'em and get back with ya.
actually, once you call and get the shipping box sent to you ( think I got mine in a day) and I shipped it right back out that same day....it was only gone maybe one week....I was shocked at how quick they turned it around.... and as for DH and DS....well they will just have to go back to the 'old' days and go outside or talk or something..8)
I'm embarrassed to say it won't slow 'em down much. We still have the other Xbox, a DS and the Wii.......................
My son's big Christmas Present in 2007 was an xbox. We got the ring of death the 1st time he plugged it in. I was sooo glad he didn't get too upset about it. Everything we got him that Christmas was xbox related. xbox was taking call on Christmas Day & said they would send a box. However, we didn't want to wait for the Christmas break holidays to be over before we got a replacement. We just took the xbox back to BestBuy with the reciept and exchanged it for a new one Luckily it hasn't happened to us again.
I've played the Wii a handful of times, but it's not all that to me. I got better things to do, like 4042 or FB.
Got a Super Nintendo(x2), original PS, PS2, wii, One of those atari games that has 10-15 games preprogrammed, sega game gear (i think we still have it in the closet), and a Turbo Grafix 16. Craig
