yes.....happy day! what did everyone receive or do? what did you do for your folks? i did breakfast and khols gift certs for my girls.
It sucks.. but I'm not concerned just yet. It was a corporate decision across the company due to the construction industry downturn and they cut my position at 200+ branches to "consolidate & centralize" the bigger portion of the admin. job functions. They may be able to bring me back in another position if/when the construction market turns around. Theres nothing in this office I can't do and there really is no where else I'd rather work. I've been here 12 years and everyone is like family to me. I'm not putting all my eggs in that basket, but I am hopeful that I'll be back here someday soon.
Simple really......they have me. And while my "offical" title is Customer Service, I do internal IT, estimating, handle some accounting issues, shipping, receiving, inventory control, some QA duties, do the scheduling of inbound and outbound delivery appointments, and purchasing. I also do all of our label design work, and custom form design for anything shipping/inventory related. Craig
Heard about a company this morning that offered all their employees 1/3 of their annual survey to take the year off. A year from now they come back to full pay. I would think for a number of companies this might be an economical way to go. You get to keep the good people but take a breather during an economic downturn. The one individual was going to travel the world for the next year.
Is that a law firm? I heard of a law firm last week offering $80,000 for the year if they agreed not to work for a year.
It might of been, I was trying to think of where I heard it, it was probably on NPR this morning. Lord knows it wasn't at the place I was auditing today in Detroit (went from a 24/7 day operation to two 32 hour-a-week shifts and the promise of more layoffs in a couple of weeks).
