I was at Tractor Supply the other day and saw this eye-catching product.

I've been trying to get my DD to use my Gold Bond powder in her shoes, but she would have nothing to do with it.

Said Gold Bond was only for "old folks"! :)

I use a lot of powder on my upper body because my vest is like wearing 3 lbs of saran wrap. No air flow whatsoever.

I got the Anti Monkey Butt powder and DD loved it!

It's a similar product to the GB, but the packaging doesn't cater to "old folks".

I don't have a motorcycle or horse any longer, so I don't know how well it performs on the "south end of town."

    Anyone else seen this?

DH has talked about it in the past, he rides a motorcycle. We've never actually gotten any, but have heard of it. Some of his friends swear by it.

I miss riding both bikes and horses.

Grew up with both of them.

Wake Co is too crowded for either.

A retarded, er, I mean retired Navy buddy sends me pics all the time of him and his Harley on road trips in Wash. state, and the surrounding states. Gorgeous scenery.

I don't recall any of us who had horses using anything like this years ago.

It was always the newbies who wanted to ride with us on a long trail ride that could have used something.

They would always get chaffed and often times ended up walking their mounts back to the barn, sometimes from several miles away, usually cussing under their breath about why they ever wanted to ride a %$##@$ horse in the first place! :)

As a member of the iron butt riders (500 miles in a day or more) I can attest to how effective this stuff is. Prevents prickly heat in the seat.

I also use another way to keep the boys cool on a hot seat. I take along one of the frozen ice packs and "rest" on it as I ride. At a lunch stop, I have the wait person bring some ice and wrap it in that to cool for the next ride segment. I actually keep one on the bike. In wintertime, it's easy to keep arm by stopping in any convenience store, popping it in a microwave for 35 seconds, and presto.

Temperature assisted ice/heat pack and monkey butt powder = good rides.

    Good one, Hatt.

That reminded me of a bulldozer operator who told me he took hot water bottles and froze water in them, then put them on the inside of his shirt next to his skin.

    Worked for him.

i saw this the other day at walmart. i use gold bond even though it's more expensive than the house brand, but in this case you get what you pay for. anyway, i noticed the monkey butt stuff was more expensive, so i bailed on it.

i work as a stagehand sometimes (that's a local roadie. i set up concerts.) anyway, on "show calls" which is when you're there from like 7AM to 2AM the next day and it's hot and you do alot of walking, you can come down with a condition known amongst the stagehands as "gig-butt". gold bond is generally the most popular choice. and these are not old people. most of them are in their 20's and 30's and have more tattoos and piercings than you could shake a stick at. and most of them like metal. AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol, no way! Not just for newbies. When you're on a horse all day - you're showing, or eventing ( going cross country, stadium jumping, and dressage all in one day) in breeches, you can get a little umm... chafed? I have friends who've been riding their whole lives who swear by the stuff, and some who have no use for it. Just a personal preference. You either need it or you don't.

  12. My dad bought my daughter a bottle of Anti- Monkey Butt as a joke because she loves Monkeys. I have sprinkled it my kids shoes before and it does keep their little feet dry! I did use it when my youngest child still wore diapers/pull-ups. It worked great! I love the picture on the bottle too!

Started out with ponies. Rode bare back until I got too big for the pony.

I miss my horses. Well, at least all but one.

Had a crazy, white gelding once. Named Silver. Mail boxes spooked him. Not all mail boxes, just some. You could be running down a dirt road, wide open, and come up on a mail box and if he didn't like the looks of it, he'd just jump hard to the left. You'd better be ready.

    Rode mules, too.

It's hard to get a dang plowing mule to gallop! :)

Rode cows, too, when Daddy would lead them from one field to another.

Come to think of it, we road pigs as a kid. Now that's hard. Not a lot to hold on to, and pigs really don't like anything on its back.

My DD knows nothing about these things.

    Shame.

Had breakfast with a life-long friend this morning. He's ridden motorcycles since childhood.

I told him about seeing AMB for the first time the other day.

He asked me if it was still in a yellow bottle with a pic of a red-butted Monkey.

    I said yes.

He said it's been around a long time.

He never told me about it.

There is also a cream called Nupercainal that works great for the dreaded hemmorhoids and also works as an anti itch/general analgesic ointment. Wife got a bad burn last year taking the holiday turkey out of the oven and she used the Nupercainal cream on the burn... Instant releif and better yet no red marks,- and the burn healed within 48 hrs. This cream is expensive $12.00 for 2 oz tube but well worth it.
