Keep in mind, you'll be doing LOTS of walking. There are some restrictions, since it's on base. You might want to check out the FAQ on the website about what you can and can't bring. But yeah, bring the sunscreen. I roasted a couple years ago.

We will probably be down there on Sunday as well. Haven't really talked to teh wife about which day.

I haven't been to one of the shows at Shady J in years, and it should be fun. Been alot of changes since I was stationed there.

    Advice for the Sunday crowd...

    - Don't forget the sunscreen!!
    - Carry cash ($3.00 just for bottled water). The ATM we found was out of service.
    - Don't forget where you parked.
    - Carry your foldable chairs and find a "your" spot under the wings of an aircraft.
    - Have fun...it was a great Saturday show!

We went today also. It was a great show!!! Yeah, $3 for water and $4 for a glass of soda w/ice! The only thing we got was t-shirts for us and one for my niece...$20 for adults and youth t-shirt was $18 (these were the Blue Angel ones)! Also if you want autographs from the Blue Angels, as you are looking toward the airfield, you will want to be left of the white tent. We got autographs and pictures with them. Needless to say, we are TIRED, but it was a great day and we had a blast.

An eight-inch pizza (that was stretching it!) was $4.00 and as ForeverFaithful mentioned, the drinks were high, too. Of course, that is the case at any type of venue like this or a place like the RBC Center where they know they've got you. You can't tailgate or bring coolers. No outside food or drink allowed to be brought onto the flightline for security purposes.

I hate to sound as if I'm complaining, because its really expected and these booths are not SJAFB booths. These are vendors that just charge a little too high. But it is just a one time a year thing, so its best to just pony up a little extra and enjoy yourself.

I also bought a tee-shirt. Before I went, I either wanted a 335th Fighter Squadron tee-shirt or cap. I liked the tee better. It touts the 335th Chiefs as the "World's Leading Mig Killers." Pretty cool. It was $20 also, however the 335th munitions had their flightline tees for $5 and both of these were bought DIRECTLY from the 335th Squadron. I would have bought one of the $5 tees too if the vendors hadn't cleaned me out. If anybody wants to buy local tees from the individual squadrons tomorrow...look for the F-15Es with SJ codes on the tails and notice which squadron they belong to. They'll have a booth set up selling their own merchandise. That also applies to the KC-135 and the 916th Air Refueling Squadron. One of the F-15 pilots told me that what they sell helps with deployment in some capacity. I don't know if the funds go to the families of those deployed or if it gives the airmen additional money while overseas.

Oh, and I'm not going to play the part of spoiler...but if tomorrow is like today, those that go on Sunday will get a surprise flyover by a particular special aircraft (and its not the F-22). I'll leave it at that right now.

I did win a free T-shirt from the vendor that was selling some type of jewelry. I didn't notice it until we were walking out and I saw my name on their board! I never win things, but I did this time. LOL

It was a lot of fun and expensive, but worth it. We just have to tighten up on a few other things until next payday (with me not working) to make up for what we put out today.

Jester, who know, we might have passed each other somewhere and never knew it. LOL

It seems to cost a lot to do practically anything these days, but I'll have to say we've had a opportunity to do a few things this spring. We've been to Wilmington for the weekend, to the NC Zoo and to the airshow. Now the zoo was more expensive than the airshow. We probably wouldn't have been able to do even these three little mini-trips if it hadn't been for gas being reasonable this year, compared to last.

Yeah, we probably did walk past each other. I was there from 10 until about 3 and we covered the whole flightline that was open. My son was worn out before the Blue Angels' performance so we made our way back to the truck and watched the Blue Angels from one of the parking lots near the main gate and then we made our way off the base out to Berkeley Blvd. and they did a flyover (all six) over the mall.
