The furloghs will cost twice the amount saved when you add in all of the Beacon problems.

It would be nice if this killed Beacon.

The problem here is the "grow gubmint" libs in Raleigh will just adjust salaries rather than clean up fraud, fat and bureaucratic waste.

Ronald Reagan would have this fixed before 2011. Good luck with The Joker.

I don't see why the 10 hours is a big deal.

10 hours of pay is not going to make or break the average Joe if taken sporadically, not all in one paycheck.

My DH took a $1 an hour paycut to keep his job. I won't see a raise this year and might have to take unpaid time off to keep mine.

In this day and time, you're lucky to have a job.

So yes, silver lining...and no whining.....

10 hours of unpaid leave... At the descretion of the department.

10 hours in how long? 6 whole months???? Sorry, but the way I read it, seems like NBD to me. DH hasn't had a raise in more than two years already, no offense, but cry me a river. 8)

It is no big deal. I am surrounded by whiners. I am happy to have a job. we have to use 10 hours by June 30th. That's the end of the fiscal year for the State of NC. The big deal will surely soon be here I fear.

Koo- Beacon is the system the State of NC bought for a gazilion dollars that is suppose to keep up with our time. It's the biggest load of shizzle, ever. My 12 year olds could keep up with my time better. That should kinda give you a clue.

With the exception of myself and the other 150 Branch Admin. Managers who are unemployed after Thursday, everyone in my company is being required to take a WEEK unpaid between May 1 and Sept. 26th. And they can not just give up a week of paid vacation to cover it, it is mandatory unpaid leave. So.. 10 hrs isn't so bad by comparison.

I agree with this, I am happy to have my job and do not mind taking the time off, my fear is whats to come.. Bigger pay cuts and more furloughs and trust me I don't make that much to begin with!

Oh yeah I remember now! The system that messed up a whole slew of peoples PDO and vacation days and paid people the wrong amounts etc. that was on the news.

    Gotcha

On a side note...my work is picking up quite a bit! Which is a blessed change from just a week ago.

    I see a light folks, I see a small light. :)

after July 1st, she'll cut more and take more. there is no doubt!!

I think what stinks the most about this is that many agencies have already cut many positions, laying off 25 year employees and cutting Dept. budgets to contend with her original 7%. And now she wants more. And she's not done yet. Not even close.
