Hey Guys! Got a soccer tourney in Wilmington coming up and I haven't been there in a good 10 years. :?

Besides the Battleship can anyone recommend activities that 9-11 year old would like? I've looked at the visitor center website, but I wanted firsthand knowledge.

Everything can sound interesting when you're reading it and then be boring as hellabalooza when you try it.

    As always... THANK YOU!!

well lets see... you can sit in the sand, lay in the sand, play in the sand, or just go swimming, or sit in the lobby and coplain there is nothing to do...

thats all I got for now, but if something else comes to mind I will call right away.

    Fish....

    And ... Thank you

They have 4 games this weekend ... the beach is out of the question because it would absolutely wear them out and we're not paying tons of money for them to crash out on their games.

The Aquarium at Fort Fisher is a good way to spend an hour or two. Kids love when the divers get in the tank and take questions from the crowd.

It's around a 30 minute drive from downtown, barring any backups on college. Once you get past monkey junction, you shouldn't have any problems at all.

Another place to check is the serpetarium. It's not that big but it's pretty cool and it's right downtown.

    Battleship
    Aquarium
    Feet in the sand
    Fort Fisher
Cape FEAR River (downtown on front and Ann St)
    Cotton Exchange (downtown also)
    Take the ferry for Southport

You could give them a tour of my old house down there?

MY azaleas, rose bushes, hostas, lillies etc ... should be HUGE by now!

    Great seafood restaurant

Be sure to go by SOMETHING FISHY at 3436 S. College Rd, 910-395-0909 for some great seafood.

A throwback from the old days.

One big room, nothing fancy about the decor, just great seafood and great hushpuppies.

I would do the Aquarium and Fort Fisher. Spring for a membership (it will only cost you a few bucks more with your fam size) and then you will be set for the zoo and aquarium for the next year.

I agree with both the Something Fishy restaurant suggestion and adding Cape Fear Serpentarium to the things-to-do list...especially for a young boys.

    - Something Fishy is a very low-key place (its not fancy, but it is clean) and it does have great food. Oh, and if you're up for it, they have great chocolate cake too for dessert. Get there a alittle ahead of the lunch and supper crowd though because it fills up fast.

    - Cape Fear Serpentarium is a cool place. They have some of the world's most exotic and dangerous snakes. I stood eye-to-eye with one of their king cobras, which measures about 15+ foot long. He even displayed his hood once. Very humbling experience to say the least to be separated by only a sheet of glass from a snake capable of killing an adult elephant!!
