We had an "experience" Wednesday night that was so bad, it borders on funny. First off, I KNOW Long John Silver's is bad for me, but once in a while, I get a craving, so off to LJS we went. It was one of those combo KFC/LJS restaurants. I've never had a steller customer service exp. there, they are usually slow and inefficient, but knew that going in and decided to chance it. We waited 20 minutes for our order to even be taken, folks are piling up waiting on food that we can SEE is ready behind the counter. People milling around behind the counter, but nothing much being accomplished. We waited for 30 minutes for our food to come out AFTER we placed our order. At one point we counted 15 people waiting on food! It was cooked and sitting there under heat lamps! We could see it!! No apologies from the staff for the wait, just attitude when DH requested some ketchup. I called the number on the receipt, but I am sure nothing will come of it, but just fair warning! :jester: Kudos to me for minding my manners, I didn't cuss anybody out, just sat back and laughed about it, chatting it up with the other people trapped there.
So, KDC...is it really fair that you were trying to make a business look bad? :? (insert lots of sarcasm)
Their drive thru is just as slow....... may wait 10-15 minutes But Gosh, I love their fish and hushpuppies!!
I knew someone was going to say that! :jester: There are approx 30 people that can verify the validity of the experience. We just about became family, let me tell ya!
I couldn't resist! You know I don't really feel that way! That's what the board is for - sharing opinions!
Exactly! Hey, I really hope the next time I go (and sadly, I am sure I will go again) will be a good one. One can dream!!
Cooked shrimp last night and rotisseried some chicken. None left. My hushpuppies rock also. I cooked about a gazillion growing up in Morehead City, working for Sanitary, Capt Bills, and Iron Steamer... Tonight....baked salmon with dill, lemongrass, and seasoning, with a light Duplin.
Baked salmon is our fav! I have yet to try some dill, sounds good, usually only use a little lemon. We went to that LJS ONCE and the service was HORRIBLE. The cashier took forever to take our order, for some reason she didn't understand what we wanted even though we were reading it right off the menu! Then another employee came in on their day off and she kept 'yelling' to him in the dining room to converse back and forth between us trying to explain what we wanted. They definitely need to work on their customer service skills at that place!
Lemongrass is less bitter than lemon juice. Seems to permeate the fish without having the bite. And, all I've ever needed was a head count and time to prepare, usually 48 hours in advance. Can't guarantee a comfy seat or nice silver, prolly gonna be a paper plate and flatware, and different glasses and cups. Only requirement is to plan on having a good time. Lambeau South (basement bar) is a different venue.8)
Can you share your hushpuppy recipe? Pretty please? I love them and just cannot find a recipe that is as good as some I have had in restaurants.
Brea, Please accept my apology for not sharing it. I've been asked a lot, and over a long time for the recipe. My resistance is because I feel like I have been entrusted with something as special to me as the Pepsi or KFC formulae are to them. I can tell you that the recipe can be found in some local cookbooks sold in Morehead at DeeGee's gifts and books. Look for a recipe from Mrs. Tony Seamon. That'll be one that we used. I don't believe it is the origianl one from which I work. It is close. And, in a pinch, there is a certain BarBQ place at 4042 and other locations, named for a nearby town, that has pretty good ones. Have you tried theirs? Bon appetite... H6
I totally understand! I had a feeling it might be something like that, but thought it was worth asking! Thanks for the info on the cookbooks, I can probably find it that way. That's very helpful!
