Have any of you ever done this?

Yesterday I heard a couple of folks talking about their kids attending a "foam" birthday party. It sounded like a blast. It looks like you can fill a kids pool or an area with foam & let all the kids play in it. Both parents said the kids loved it. I see where you can buy foam machines on-line ... but most of them are more than a couple hundred dollars. There are various websites that show how to make your own foam machines. The most promising do-it-yourself site listed a shop-vac, a hose & a garbage barrel. Have any of you ever built your own foam machine? If so, what soap did you find to work best & what did you use to build it.

    Thank You :)

OK - from the lack of responses, I'm guessing none of you have built one of these yourself :) I see where I can buy a commericial Foam Machine ... but I'm way to cheap for that.
I've seen the the Fun N' Foam Factory mentioned on the internet:
    http://www.buzzbeetoys.com/USglobal/FoamParty/08040.html

but I can't find where to purchase one ... neither locally or on the net. Have any of you seen a place where I can buy one of these? They just look like a really fun toy to have around for the summer. I've emailed buzzbeetoys customer service but I haven't heard back from them yet. You guys are always wonderful about pointing me in the right direction ... so I was hoping maybe one of you had seen one of these or something similar in the local area for sell.

Thanks Again for Your Help :)

Sounds like a blast!!!! We had 'snow' deliverd and they just dumped bags of ice into a machine and blew it out!!! I wonder if the blower they had could be used for foam?

Not to make it sound like I'm trying to be a wet blanket, but I see a definite problem with foam in a pool that you might not have thought about, but should consider before going ahead.

If there's foam all over the surface of the pool (or most of the surface), it would make it awful difficult to see someone floating face down. Obviously it's not my call to make, it's yours. However, if my kids attended a pool party, I would expect the responsible (host) parents to have a 100% unobstructed view of the pool and everyone in it.

She said a kid's pool, I'm thinking the little wading pools without water in it. Melynda is bit more responsible than that.:?

Yep :) Thanks for the vote of confidence :) You're correct - I meant a little pool or a blocked off portion of the driveway filled with the suds ... but not the water. If they are in a pool or on plastic, I would also want some type of slip resistant surface. I definately wouldn't want my little ones or anyone elses getting hurt. I just want the kids to have some good clean fun. If I ever find one of these foam machines, I'll have to have the 4042 playgroup over for a little fun one afternoon. I promise not to let any of the kids drown :)

I never said she wasn't, please don't start making me out to be a bad guy just for bringing up what could potentially be a hazard based solely on the text of the thread.

Yes, there was talk about a kid's pool, but that in and of itself does not mean that small children couldn't drown in it. Nor does it mean that it's easy to keep an eye on kids in it. I can picture the parents and kids gathnering around the table for cake and ice cream only to have a little one fall in and go unnoticed because of the foam.

There was no mention that there would be no water in the pool. I'm sorry, but my mind reading is on the fritz today.

Once again, I was very polite and was only pointing out what I saw as a potential hazard, only to have you slap me down and make it look like I was accusing people of being irresponsible, which is certainly not true.

I read the same thread and nowhere did she say she was going to put water in a pool and then put foam on top of that. Just saying...................:nopity:

You hear pool and automatically presume it's an empty pool because no one said there was water in it? :banghead:

I guess I just understood the concept of kiddie pool and you didn't. I also don't automatically ASSUME everyone else in the world is too stupid to come in out of the rain. But that's just me.

Melynda, from what I have seen is a very bright and responsible person, however I have seen very bright people (and some not so very bright people such as myself) be so close to it they miss the risks.

Without the additional information you had no way of knowing that this was not a high risk situation.

Thank You for being a responsible citizen.

Do you at least give Clif a reach around every time you pat him on the back?
