Saw one yesterday in the yard, almost stepped on it:? Let it crawl along it's way off course.
A bit worried about my small dog though...and I dont want to get bit either.
Seen some watersnakes before in our small pond but that was about it until then.

Lowe's sells a granular product called Snake A Way.
I sprinkle it around my house, I haven't seen any this year....yet.

I hate snakes...the only good snake is a dead snake.

They sell two really good brands of that at Walmart. One is made by Remington, and the other by Winchester. Partial to the Remington brand myself, as the green shells don't show up as much when left laying in the yard for several months.

I killed one in my yard last weekend. I wasn't sure what kind of snake it was until I looked up different types of snakes on the internet and it matched the pictures of the copperheads...I think it was a baby. I've lived in my house for almost 3 years now and that was the first snake I had seen...well, except for the one that my cat brought home once. I guess I won't be walking around my yard in flip flops anymore!

you don't want to kill all of them,, just the dangerous ones...

Why do people think they need to kill ANY snake?? Geez, it's just out there doing what snakes do. Drives me CRAZY!! If you leave the poor snake alone, it will leave you alone. No, I don't want one in my house, but if it's just out in the yard, leave the poor thing alone, it will move along after it eats vermin for you.

OMG...you're kidding right? I almost peed my pants it scared me so much...it was in 3 parts when I was done with it. I would have no idea which ones are dangerous and which are harmless.

I guess because I wouldn't know if it was a harmful one and I wouldn't want to take the risk of it biting me or one of the neighborhood kids. Sorry...they scare me.

If its big and black let it go... 8) Head shapes are a good sign of dangerous ones also.

Hmmm...I'll have to do a little more snake research now that I KNOW they are around. I never would have noticed him if I wouldn't have been watching the itty bitty frog that was leaping around.

Being the owner of 5 indoor snakes I guess we know my stance on them.

    OK....I will rephrase my statement...

The bad snakes are better dead..the harmless ones I tend to leave alone.

I have found black snakes and simply left them be, but the copperheads have to die if they are anywhere near me...
I would hate to leave it be and have my son come up on it while playing and get bitten.

Not only that, but for some reason there is a mouse that likes to come in from under the house once in a while, so I tend to keep the snake a way to keep the snakes from following said mouse...

    Craig,
I bet you don't have a problem with unwanted visitors huh?
