I just read the whole thread and have a few comments to put in:

Regarding chinese food, my personal favorite is China King at 40/42. Next in line would be China Delight off 70 at the Winn Dixie Church ;)

I am happy to see a Walmart coming to 42 because I do get some things there. About half the groceries depending on coupons and sales. And personal hygiene stuff tends to be cheaper. I would also like a Chick-Fil-A closer to the Cleveland area, although I guess it's just as well there is not one, I would spend too much extra money there :) I already eat there at least a couple times a week for lunch. I work about 1/2 mile from the one at Kroger in Garner.

A steakhouse or other restaurant would also be nice at the new Walmart area, as others have mentioned. I was excited when the TGI Fridays opened at White Oak. I love that place.

Back to the Chick-Fil-A, I just want to say that other fast food joints need to learn a thing or two from them. They are just awesome all the time. Not only is the food good, they are always friendly, always fast (even at lunch rush) and NEVER get the order wrong. Sure they never have coupons, but I go there anyway because they are awesome. Sure I could go to Hardees and get a little thickburger with free fries and drink with coupon. But then I would have to wait 10mins for my food while the person in front figured out if they want a double or triple burger, and then wait while my charges get reversed and recharged since apparently I just paid for the next person in line's food. Sorry Starbucks customers, but I only wanted to pay for myself today.

Sign up on Hwy 42 indicates Rue 21 will be in new Wal-Mart shopping center.

  3. Regarding Chinese restaurants, the one in the Lowe's Shopping Center is good. The best Chinese restaurant I know of is P.F. Chang's - It's worth the drive to Raleigh!

Oh yeah. Since she discovered the one in Smithfield we've been at least every other weekend. I don't mind because they have really good clearance sales. I think she's gonna try to get a job when the new one opens.

I would love to see either a Wolf or Ritz camera open up there.

How about a really big hobby/craft shop? I hate Michaels and it doesn't look like AC Moore is gonna take my suggestion to put one out here :?

    We need a Blockbuster

It'd be great if they added a Blockbuster. Going to Clayton Walmart to go to Blockbuster takes an hour because of the traffic on 40/42

Not sure where you live, but there's also one in Garner (used to be anyway) in the shopping center where Home Depot/Target/Kroger/movie theatre is off Timber. But - you might want to think about switching to Netflicks - no more late fees or driving to pickup/return!

I am afraid Blockbuster and stores like them (if there are any left) are on the way out. with NetFlix and RedBox, they don't stand a chance. we love redbox!

What is redbox? We do netflix now through DS's xbox 360 but when he moves out in Oct to get married, we are gonna have to do something else.

oh dear! we need to talk. It's a vending machine type box (and its red of course) in Lowes Foods, Wal Marts, Harris Teeters. All movies are a $1. Swipe your debit/credit card, pick a movie, it pops out. Returning is even more simple.

oh yeah, i have seen something like that at Lowes Foods, just never paid a lot of attention. i like the Netflix thing through xbox, you just scroll through and pick a movie to watch but like i said, gonna have to try something different this Fall. Geez, i am so behind on everything:oops:
