I was diagnosed with it approx.3 years ago,had surgery at Chapel Hill with the DaVinci robotic system which in turn was operated by Dr. Bogess,I can highly recommend him!!
I had pre-cancerous cells found in my cervix about 3 years ago, and have been going to the dr constantly it feels like ever since. I have always gone for my yearly checkups like clockwork, and learned a lot of interesting facts about cervical cancer through this happening. Apparently your cells in your body change every 90 days (I am pretty sure that's what it was), so at first I had to go every 3 months to get checked to be sure they didn't get worse. Luckily mine disappeared, as a large percentage do at the stage mine were in (mild displasia). Unfortunately, some women don't get checked every year like they should, and that's how cervical cancer is formed. My dr told me if you get checked every year, it's virtually impossible to get cervical cancer, because it doesn't just form overnight, and you can always catch it in time. So now I get checked every 6 months, and (knock on wood) I've been free and clear ever since. It's scary though, that first 3 months was the longest of my life, and I was only 30 at the time...That's why it's so important to always get your physicals ladies!!! as unappealing and uncomfortable as they are...:ack:
:iagree: get your physicals!!! this happend to me nearly 20 years ago......i still get nervous when i go for my physical every year! dh and i wait by the mailbox for that little blue card.
