Our Dryer vent is rather low to the ground from where the flower bed is. The vents somewhat close on the plast cover outside when the dryer not running, but I assume a snake could make it away in. Wife is very worried about this has we have seen a lot of black snakes in the yard the last few days. Does anyone have any suggestions or should we not worry about it? If we ever got a snake in the house, I don't think my wife would ever step foot back in the house.
I would just put a screen vent with 1/8 or 1/4 mesh over the vent. Should keep mice out also. Of course we no longer have mice under the house which I associate with the snake skins under there.
We had one get in our vent, and 1/2 way into the dryer.... I turned the dryer on and.... well it wasn't pretty. Hubby pulled the dryer away from the wall to see what was wrong and a big snake tail was hanging out! He bought some type of flap thing that only opened out.
OMG! I would have moved THAT day. Just left all my belongings and started over somewhere else. I'm scared to run the dryer now!
Our poor dog followed hubby behind the dryer and hubby didnt know the snake was dead and picked up the poor chihuahua and tossed him across the room thinking he was going to be snake bait!!!!! Our worse snake story (same house!) is one day my dd was getting ready for school and came in my room and said "ha ha very funny mom' and I had no idea what she was talking about.... she said "the fake snake on the toilet!?!?" and I went in and sure enough a snake was curled up on the top of our toilet seat!!! I shut the door.... got a phone book and ran back in there to covered the ac vent with the phone book and then left him there all day till hubby got home!!! Part of me wanted to keep checking to see if he was there and part of me was afraid to find out!
Oh my, my wife would have never been back to the house again if that ever happens at our house. How did it get in?
I worked in a small lab a couple of decades ago that was in an older building where there must have been some large cracks in the walls or floors. One hot summer day the lab manager jumped out of the men's room yelling, while trying very hard to get his pants back up. It seems he had noticed the very large black snake curled around the toilet a bit later than he would have liked. One could say it literally scared the crap out of him ......
