I just made an appointment to get my hair did!
They wanted to know who I wanted to see and I told her I've never been before. She set me up with Christy... anybody here see her?

I have not used her but I go to Natalie at that salon and love her. I have followed her from place to place so she could keep doing my hair.

Never used Christy. I see Michelle every 7 weeks or so and use Amanda for massages and Anita for facials/manis/pedis-all are fabulous.

Christy may be newer to that salon. I think there is a Kristen who has been there for a while and might be pregnant?? There are only 5 or 6 stylists, including Shannon, the owner and all seem to be really good.

I've gone to Radiance one time and would never go back. I've forgotten the name of the gal who did my hair but remember that she worked for JC Penney's hair salon.

I now get my hair cut at a gal who does it from the house and is extremely and capable. She works at a salon in Cary. PM me if you want the number.

So do you guys tip when you get your hair done at Radiance? The stylists rent their chairs, so are not paid by the salong but instead get the majority of the fees for the hair. I always tip for my waxing (wanna keep her happy), but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth to tip when they're already getting fairly compensated. Tipping has always been about making up that gap between a crappy hourly wage and a fair wage, so it doesn't seem right to have to tip in this case. Any thoughts?

I have always tipped michelle. I like to keep my stylist happy too and she will always fit me in if I am in a bind. I've also followed her from salon to salon so never really thought about not tipping. I always get some kind of color done and I know they have to buy their own color and some supplies there. I personally just could not walk out of there without leaving a tip. My husband even leaves a $3 tip for his cut. Now my question has always been for people who see the owner, do they tip or not? Etiquette always says you don't tip the owner but I dunno??

I have heard that their booth rental is higher than some of the other salons in the area. And at any salon where they're paying booth rental, its hard to assume that they are being fairly compensated. They still have to purchase their own supplies (color etc) most have to pay for their own health ins, it all depends on the salon. I always tip at least 15%, wanna keep her happy too!

I went and bit the bullet. I was getting cold feet about getting it cut. Even considered canceling at the last minute. In the end I wish she would have cut off much more. Maybe next time. She said she does "body waves" so I'll definitely be back! I tipped her $10. When this color washes out a little more I'll be back for that wave. (I went crazy and dyed it "rosewood" ...like a dark red)

... I'm half tempted to do some cuttin' myself ..

I don't think mine is crossing over. He's missed more meetings that he's been to and hasn't earned a thing. When it's time for a den meeting he really doesn't care one way or another if he goes. Most nights he's rather hang out with his brother. Now... if they STAY that close it would be wonderful! So I guess we've given up the ship. ... Maybe he'll find something else he's interested in
