    Hell to the NO!

Gas prices are WAY down now and there is NO reason for them to charge for a delivery FEE.

Personally I would have told them to shove that pizza up their ....

If I said something like that they would crucify me. :)
I would still tip the guy. I've seen several middle aged men delivering pizza lately. I doubt that this is their dream job. I would try to help them out.

We use Papa John's. I was a waitress back in the day so I usually tip regardless - even more if the service was excellent.

I don't always think to tip for the car wash and those types of services tho....:?

She always takes tips, I heard she would go for the whole yard, if it was possible.

This has been on my mind lately, so I called the Domino's at 40/42 and asked to speak to the owner. I got his wife and I explained that a few of us were confused about the delivery fee.

She told me that at the end of the night when the drivers cash out, they get $1.50 of that $2 fee for every run they go on. It doesn't come later in their paychecks, they get it that night, along with any credit card tips they received.

I've blatently asked the drivers if they get that delivery fee, and they've told me no, but the owners wife told me that they absolutely do.

    Just FYI....

Somebody's lying like a rug cause I asked again the other day and I was told that they do NOT get the $2 or any part of it. The guy said it was "complicated".

They'll get no tip from me next time . . . if there is a next time.

I also wrote to corporate and received a reply that the particular location in question wa a franchise and I would be contacted by someone soon. Never happened.

you could ask yourself this... who benefits the most or would likely get the most out of not being honest here...

I say the one getting the tip... Why would the owner or manager lie about it??

Maybe to not seem like they are raping the public by charging $2 delivery fee when the person delivering the pizza is using their own car and their own gas?

I don't know, but it was the owner's wife I spoke with. She said they used to get a mileage allowance and that when gas went up so high, and they started charging the delivery fee, that's when this went in place.

She repeated several times that the driver got $1.50 per delivery in addition to their hourly wage.

She told me the same thing about 2 months ago when I had to speak with her about an issue.

Either way it's highway robbery. I will tip the driver what I want to tip him so you don't need to automatically throw an extra $2 in there. Let me decide.

i would give a tip. i wouldn't be surprised if they left it on the tab because so many people don't tip.

the driver still has his bills, don't take it out on him/her.
keep the economy going or at least what's left of it.

That doesn't sound like it's intended as a tip, but as reimbursement for a portion of their vehicle expenses. Pizza delivery is hard on a vehicle.
