Karaoke

  1. I've always wondered about karaoke at the Clubhouse on Saturday nights. Has anyone ever been? What kind of crowd is usually there? Just been curious about it for a while.

It's funny you posted this, I have been thinking about starting a thread about karaoke myself...

I've been wanting to do karaoke myself for years, but never seem to be in the right place at the right time. Well, hubby and a bunch of friends went out Sat night, and I couldn't go because my Grandma was in town for just 2 days, so I stayed home. They all ended up at the Clubhouse and did karaoke, I was so disappointed!! I think they had a ball though!!

My question is, I'm thinking about surprising him for his bday this month, and taking him and a bunch of friends out, and thought that would be fun to do, but the clubhouse seems small to accommodate a bunch of people together (there'd probably be about 8-10 of us together), are there any other places around that does karaoke on Fri/Sat nights?

Crowd is diverse. Be forwarned if you are not a regular karaoke singer up there it will take forever and a day to get your turn! Just my 2 cents!

i don't know, i think it depends on the day. We have been up there before and my grandkids got to get up and sing, during the week is a lot milder than the weekend.

I will ask the gal that does my hair. She knows all the local places for karaoke....she and her gal pals go almost every night to the week, somewhere....I will get the low-down on local places where she goes on the weekends. I will see her tomorrow and I will report back.

  6. I know some places to avoid. I went to Carolina Ale House in Raleigh - not good! I've been to Overtime Sports Bar in Raleigh - way too loud! I have a friend that recommends one in Cary. She said they do it on Friday nights. I'll find out the name of it.

Okay, someone mentioned the Clubhouse does it during the week too? So it's not just Saturday? And kids can go? I don't even know if I'd want to bring my kids! They'd probably get up there and freeze anyway. I love singing karaoke!

  7. That's annoying - they ought to be fair and let first come, first serve and then rotate in the same order.

I don't know about Clubhouse, I've never worked up the courage to go in there. Playmakers across from Meredith Collage used to have pretty good Karaoke on Friday nights beginning at 9:00PM. They are called something else now, Brickhouse I think, but if they still do it with the same crowd it is worth a visit.

both of my sons have gotten up and sang! Makes a mama proud even though they were off key! I wanted to go out this last weekend and sing!

I always thought you signed up and they called you in order...

What kind of songs do they have at the clubhouse, is it a good variety? country, rock, disco, older, new stuff?

  11. I've been to Playmakers too but the last time I went it was a 2 hour wait to sing one song. It might be better in the summer though when the college kids are gone.

that is the impression i have gotten the times i was up there during it. As for songs, they pretty much cover the gambit. Not sure on the nites they are doing it now but it should be on their website.

  13. Well, if end up going there on a Saturday night, I'll let yall know. I would dare anyone to come and use their 4042.com name when they sign up for a song. "Ok..next we have Crazymom singing some Elvis..."

LOL but most places I have gone to sing karaoke people have known who I was with or without the 4042 name!

  16. My brother is the funniest karaoke singer. One time he sang "You make me feel like a natural woman" and took his shirt off. He was wearing a bra he borrowed from my friend. He has no shame.
