Flying insects in my house

  1. I have noticed all these tiny flying insects in my house. They are so annoying! They especially come around when food is out. A while ago I saw a bunch of them hanging out on my bedroom mirror. What are these and how do I get rid of them?!?!?!

Are they tiny? If so, they are probably fruit flies. This time of year they and ants are the worst for finding their way inside!

Yep, sounds like fruit flies. Wasn't there a thread about catching them with wine or something? I can't remember. If they are in your bathroom, could be drain flies. They are a little bigger and grey. Had them once in a rarely used bathroom. Ick. Now I flush it every couple days even if no one has used it and bleach the drains. Can't stand bugs.

Fruit flies. Put a couple of inches of apple cider vinegar in a small glass or jar, add a drop or 2 of liquid dish detergent, and the next morning you will be amazed at how many of them are in there. Has to be apple cider vinegar, not the white vinegar; and adding the dish detergent breaks the surface tension so they can't light on the surface and crawl back out, they sink and die.

  5. Thank you so much! Someone earlier today told me to use white vinager and it hasn't worked! I will put the apple cider vinegar out. Great advice!
