i had chucks heating and air come out to my house to fix my AC. he charged $125 service call fee, sprayed my inside and out condenser coils with my garden hose($160) and supposedly put 3lbs of freon in my system($220) i paid $547 to this guy for 1 hour of work and less than $30 in materials. is there anything i can do to get my money back? just lesson learned? i have since called him, he came to my house only to call me mentally insane and a racist. this apparently isn't the first time this has happened either. http://www.dexknows.com/business_profiles/chucks_refrigeration_heating_and_air_conditioning-b13081

Why did you pay it in the first place? That's an awful lot of money for freon. You could have at least tried to negotiate that high service call fee. Good luck to you.

I've always gotten excellent service and a fair price from Chuck. No complaints from us.

We used to use him to service our furnace. After last year, that won't be happening any more. He used to be a great guy to deal with, but since he's gotten more and more out of the business and his kids are more or less running things, it's gone down hill. We'll be searching for someone to service our furnace next year.

how much have other people paid in the past for his services? does he make up prices on the spot? if so i may have a case against him. ive tried calling him anonymously but he will not give me a price. i felt it was my duty to pay it. he billed me on the spot. i didnt really have time to think about it. he kept saying ill work with you on the bill. it was his son who made the service call.

We used him last year before summer really set in and it cost us over $800 for 2 units (cleaning and freon and not sure what all else was done). He was going to send us a service contract for twice a year visits, etc but he never did. My husband called him several times and each time he said he was going to send it in the mail, but never did. He did let us split up the payments but again, never followed thru with the contract.

    :iagree:

Had to use Mike's very recently. Promised he would have someone at my house Monday morning after I knocked on his door Saturday evening (lives up the street from me) after discovering one of my units not working. Service tech at my houses 8:05 Monday morning ready to work. He diagnosed my problem and repaired it for a fair price, Not a cheap repair, but much, much cheaper than 547.00.

you wouldnt believe, or maybe you would, the number of references i got after my stuff was already fixed, billed and paidfor. apparently creeches in selma and oddjobs are reliable too. i actually priced with oddjobs wouldve costed $210. thats for 1 labor hr, service call fee and freon pricing. too late now tho.

Same here Hatt, we've recommended him over and over and never had any complaints. He worked with us on a large bill, he's come out on Memorial Day a few years back and looked at our unit when it was acting up and never even charged us a dime for that call.

I recently had a bad experience with Chuck's also. I wanted someone to service my already working ac unit... when the guy left, nothing was working. I called Chuck and was, in so many words, called a racist because I had some questions. The guy never left a bill and Chuck called me the next day stating that he was going to come and get his money or else he was getting his lawyer to put a lean on my house... That man is crazy. I ended up getting the Sheriff Department involved. He was supposed to be at my house the next day at 5pm to get his money for cleaning the system and he never showed up. What is wrong with people!!?? :banghead:

Seriously?!?! Wondering that myself. What is up with that? So unprofessional!!!!!! Even if I had good service I wouldn't use them again after hearing about that kind of harassment of customers.

I recently paid $50 per pound of freon (R22) on a service call for A/C.

My Mom and Dad have been using Creech's for a very long time, and they have always worked for reasobable fees. Also try Rob Matthews, he lives in the area, you see his truck on NC 50 near the SR 1010 signal. He is a good man, and also a reasonable service provider.

well. looks like I will be calling around tomorrow....My unit for my upstairs is not working and it is 85 degrees up there, and that is with the ceiling fans on....May be sleeping down stairs since it is cool down here. Just what I need with not having a job and going thru some things that we are going thru... what fun....not!
