I'm an Alltel customer - I had Verizon several years ago but dropped it because the service was so spotty in Johnston County. Now that they are combining I am being forced back to Verizon until my contract is up. I have had more dropped calls in the last two weeks than I have had in two years with Alltel. Most of them have been at the Wake/Johnston line or while crossing the Neuse river. Text messages are having problems too, they are not being delivered or are delayed. Is anyone else having any problems? Do you know if it is due to the merger or is there environmental or atmospheric condition causing it?
Flipped here. I have been an Alltel customer since they were 360! In the last couple of months, I went from having excellent reception on my phone at home to none! I can no longer even use the phone at home-no bars until I leave my neighborhood. If I'm lucky to get any signal the call drops shortly after it starts. I've also had repeated dropped calls all over the place outside my neighborhood. There are two others in my family with phones too and we all have the same problem, so I know it's Alltel and not my phone. I'm at wits end, due to upgrade my phone and not sure what to do now. Plus, someone from the Alltel store told me that once the merger is complete, the prices will go up. She also said that with all the companies merging and such, in the end there will probably only be Verizon and AT&T!
I've had a lot more dropped calls too---especially at the Wake/Johnston line. Text messages are much slower and picture messages aren't being delivered to other Verizon customers!!! I was not happy about the merger either. I've been with Alltel for years and never had any problems. Oh well...choices are too limited.
i have not had a problem matter of fact i have had calls come thru in areas where alltel wouldnt before lately.
With T-Mobile now that SunCom was taken over by them. My service is still as good as it was with SunCom (which I loved) but the customer service is horrible.
I am also an Alltel customer and I am not happy with the merge. Someone told me that when our plans expire or run out we will be required to buy verizon phones. Our current phones will not work anymore. My husband went to Alltel this weekend and asked if it was true and they said yes. This is crazy!! They also told him that they will not be giving out free phones. In the letter they sent out they stated that everything will stay the same.
Thanks for the info Sassy. Since we are on the verge of getting three new phones with Alltel, I guess it just doesn't even make sense to look at them. I wonder why they still promote their new phone deals. I guess we will look at the phones at Verizon and may just go ahead with the switch to a Verizon plan. We also got the letter from Alltel this weekend and while they say our plans will stay the same, I'm sure they will find some loophole later on to make the changes.
I heard this from a friend of mine and an Alltel employee. My husband paid the bill this weekend and they confirmed it.
I work in telecom and deal with these vendors on a daily basis. And I work with the ones in the corporate offices and not the minimun wage employees working at a strip mall. I would tend to believe corporate first.
I have Alltel, and have never had any problems at all, until recently. I have had many dropped calls and my wireless internet card has been giving me problems too....used to be lightening fast going in between sites, now delayed and I have to 'log on' several times before I get service. I sure hope these are just normal 'merging-working-out-the-kinks' issues that will go away eventually..... and FWIW, I have been talking to alltel on several occasions regarding a family plan and getting new phones, and not once have they said anything about the alltel phones not working with verizon. I may be naive, but I find it hard to believe they would spend all this time with me on several phone calls in the last couple of weeks, trying to sell me phones, helping me choose, for them not to work.
This may sound dumb but do you *228 regularly? That updates towers. I have found as Verizon and Alltel have been merging that refreshing the towers has really helped.
Well then they need to train their employees better. 2 different locations are giving incorrect information.
