we've been talking about it for a couple weeks now. There's nothing fun to do around here with kids except bowling and skating, and I don't know any around except the 2 in Raleigh. And I went to the one on Tryon a couple weeks ago and it was not enticing at all...I think one here at 40/42 would be great! DON'T NOBODY TAKE MY IDEA!!!
We definitely did not need another Wal-Mart. How many Walmarts does a county need? If Walmart wanted to come to 40/42 they should have put a SAM'S Club. If there was a need for a big retail store, how about something different. A different grocery store, Home Depot, book store, or just about anything would have been a better choice. Walmart is just so close to in every direction. There goes the neighborhood...............
I have to agree-something different for a change certainly would have been nice instead of more of the same:ack:.I will not be going grocery shopping there since I really do not like the type of meat they are selling at Walmart. As someone else had mentioned,a Whole Foods would have been nice!
Well they are the king of Retail currently and are very cognizant in their decisions to locate stores. They also are one of the few retailers that have the money to open new stores in this environment.
I gotta comment on this. The dry goods are the same. Brand name cereal is brand named cereal, canned goods are canned goods. I buy them wherever I can get the best deal when I need them, whether it's Walmart or Lowe's or wherever. I buy very little meat or produce there however. I may buy pre-packed chicken (Perdue), but that's about it. The odd head of lettuce or something, but generally try to get most other stuff locally. But if I need it and it's that or Food Lion, I'll go to Walmart. Price rules at my house.
I don't mind buying a boxed food in there ocassionally but the grocery section in Smithfield smells so bad that I would never buy the meat or produce. I know the stuff is the same but I just can't get past the smell.
Oh, THAT explains it, LOL!! I agree with you, that Smithfield store is nasty. The one in Clayton (where I shop if I have to) is not like that. I was THRILLED when it opened and I didn't have to go Smithfield.
I would like to see: A good book store- don't care which one! Any bookstore! A good craft store- Hobby Lobby, JoAnne's, AC Moore. Michael's is close by but has no competition. And WalMart is downsizing their crafts to the point that it is usless to go in there. A warehouse store, preferably Costco, as BJ's is not far away, and Sam's not much farther. And I don't want to see these at 40/42. There is way too much up there already! I am happy to have a WalMart closer to home, but enough is enough! The roads and traffic flow in the area are a nightmare.
I'm happy to see the Walmart coming. The traffic is already bad in the area, so it doesn't really bother me if it gets a little more congested. I also use the bypass a lot to avoid most of it, so at least the option is there. I grocery shop at the Walmart, so we'll go often. I'm also happy about the dollar store, and we like Fiesta Mexicana, so we'll go there once the smoking ban takes affect. I'd love to have Kirklands, a Borders book store, and/or a Bath and Body Works. I'm surprised that there isn't going to be a shoe store. They'll get the traffic on 42 figured out eventually. In the mean time, convenient access to shopping is going to continue to aid in the appreciation of our property values, so I'm all for it.
I'd love a Blockbuster !!! I know Netflix is good but if you get Blockbuster's in store movie pass for $25, you can rent UNLIMITED movies, two at time for a whole month. One time I rented over 60 movies in one month. You can't beat that even with Netflix
