Or one person could tell them it's against the rules, and everybody else could then ignore the thread. Yeah, like that's gonna happen, I know!
now that is funny.:lol: and besides the rules around here are the rules change daily, depending on who has decided they are in charge for the day.
I hate to re-direct a hijacked thread back to the original point, but I have a gravel driveway and would like to get it resurfaced. Not paved, that's too expensive, just a couple loads of crush and run and some grading. Is this something he can do?
Here is a quick update about my husbands search for side-jobs...I just got off the phone with a lady called Francis at the NC Licensing Board for General Contractors. As it turns out one does NOT need a license as long as the bid for the job does not exceed $30000. This is also stated in their website under FAQ, Ouoteo I need a license prior to bidding on a project? If the project costs $30,000 or more, you will need a license before submitting a bid (GS 87-1). Unfortunately she was not able to provide me with information about being insured so finding out about that will be next... LG Annette.
Just called the NC Dept. of Insurance-they do not mandate for contractors to carry insurance,it's voluntary. Just called a Insurance company to get a quote-supposed to call me back...
Found out Friday-it would be approx. $660 per year for insurance. However NO license is required as long as the job is under $90000,so I don't know what all the fuss was about...
and as long as you keep it under $90 G's, your hubby is good to go!! wish I had something he could do!
Unless he falls of a ladder and tries to SUE the customer. Girl, I'm ALL about people owning their own business and I know I gave you attitude. Seriously, he should pay the $660/yr There are plenty of people like me who wouldn't hire *just anyone* to do side jobs for them. The one's that do, have regretted it, just ask Kaci and PRM. JMHO, If someone came to my house or I called them to do a job, they better have insurance, if NOT, they don't get the job. God forbid a sub contractor messed up something of MINE .... oh it would be :boxing: ON like Donkey Kong! I can help you with a GREAT CPA, an insurance company and get yall started with a copy of Quick Books if you like. Seriously, there's PLENTY of work for people to do side jobs and he may not have to work for *the man* again. Let me know if I can help you.
