HG, just out of curiosity, how come when there were those auctioning off a fellow 4042'er for a day of work at their house (and their choice of chores or projects) for Relay for Life, was it not suggested or mentioned for the person who won him, not to have this insurance? He (SB) could have just as easily fell or hurt himself at the lucky winner's house, doing this act of kindness. I understand if he decides to make this his career, the importance of the insurance, but if he is looking to just make some extra (or do good deeds for Cancer) on the side, why was this issue not 'pushed' when that auction was going on? I'm just asking....so folks don't go getting your panties in a wad.
Thanks so much for your offer! For the moment however Ins. etc. will have to wait just a little longer, with $0 in the bank and not much coming in but it's certainly something he'd like to do once we get back on our feet.
Hmmm. Not sure of the answer to your question KB, but my first thought was the contractor or the guy looking to make a career out of it is also asking to be paid for the work he does for himself????? vs. volunteer???
ahhh, didn't think of that!! see that's why I ask the stupid questions....cuz I am surrounded by all you smart folks!! but with that being said, does the volunteer not get to sue? if they do get hurt? hmmmm.....
I think it doesn't matter whether the person is working as a volunteer for a worthy cause, or working for pay, or just visiting, if they get hurt on your property there is a potential lawsuit. That's why our homeowners coverage includes liability. You might want to take a look at your policy and see how much liability you have, and find out how little it costs to increase that.
exactly. my personal homeowners policy covers it. What I was curious about is why the OP was given a bit of a poke about it, but when it was done for the other cause (charity), it was a mute point.
you are not....you just try and act like one from time to time. No Kitty rescuer can be a royal Enlightened person too.
LOL... Good one. I can assure you if and its a big "IF" I was to hurt myself due to my stupidity or negligence I will not look to blame someone else and certainly by way of a lawsuit... WILL NOT HAPPEN PERIOD..... I preach and I walk the talk we are each accountable to our own actions and the results of them I would NEVER try to take advantage of someone or thee insurance company because of it. Now if there was neglect on someone else's part than it would have to be pretty bad for me to go after anyone. But hey appreciate you keeping me in your thoughts.. See I knew you liked me... :jester:
don't flatter yourself there big guy, believe it or not, this had nothing to do with you.:lol::lol::lol::lol:
