I feel like I'm the only one here that has their eyes open. I was in Iraq and Afghanistan for over 18 months. You can say they hate us because we invaded their countries, but believe me they got their marching orders to kill as many soldiers as possible from their religious leaders.

The words of the day are... antipathy, stereotyping, and prejudice.

I wasn't around then either, but you're basing your beliefs on a book that was written 1500-2000 years ago. Well.. so was the koran. What's the difference? This book was around during the crusades, it said to kill non-believers... hmm.. As for the "beautiful religion" (which I never called it [EDIT: ok.. not at me :)), it is against all other religions that is not muslim, much like christianity is. Doesn't it imply in the bible that if you don't believe you'll burn in hell or roam the earth in purgatory? I guess that could be compared to being killed for being an infidel.

They would teach the same thing here if it wasn't for our constitution. Yet its around us through our media. The hatred is portrayed there. Pay a bit more attention, you'll notice it. And yes, there are millions of peaceful muslims around the world as well as millions of peaceful christians around the world. And given the opportunity to go to the middle-east, I would go but I don't want to go as a soldier trying to push someone else's beliefs on the people there.

Like I said before.. if it doesn't match one's belief, they must be wrong. Don't all of these believe in the same god: Methodist, Baptist, Lutheran, or Catholic? But don't they have different interpretations of the bible as to which part to part literally or to consider it a guideline?

Look, I'm not promoting one religion over another. I'm tired of people condemning things before they know anything about them and without trying to understand them.

Thank you for your service! Fortunately in this country we still have the Freedom of Religion. Add on top of that the Free Market. If the owner of said business does or allows employees to practice, learn, adhere to a religion than that is their choice. If you choose not to support that business that is your right.

These are the rights we are guaranteed by the Constitution. We need to get back to defending our Constitution from domestic and foreign threats. Our politicians weaken our Constitution on a daily basis more than a Islamic Jihadist can ever do.

I salute your service. I was stationed in the Middle East in the mid 80's, long before you got there. I found in the Middle East, the same that I find anywhere else I go: Extremists are the same. Most people are as well. I went to places that I'd never want to go back to visit, and some that are among the most beautiful in the world. Working with some Bedouin, I found hospitality defined, a curious intellect, and a strong sense of self within their religious belief. I found the same in Israel. I've found the same in San Francisco, New Orleans, and all over this state.

A geopolitical lesson would be lost here, I fear. Suffice it to say that if we were attacked, as we did Iraq, for no cogent reason..we'd react the same way.

I appreciate your serving to protect this shop owners right to freedom of religious expression, and to protect his right to secure a living based on providing a needed service or product.

As for the condemnation by others, perhaps the world looks more closely at us for examples than we realize.

If adultery is a sin, where is the absolute condemnation of Senator Ensign and Governor Sanford?

It comes to me that the Muslim world sees the lack of follow through based on what we preach, but do not practice. Islam, as fundamental Judaism and Christianity, tolerates none of it, at its extreme level.
