Not now, but hopefully in the next 6-12 months we will be self employed and will need insurance for myself, husband and child. Anyone self insured? Please reply with recommendations and those to avoid.

I would say avoid Blue Cross Blue Shield, they wanted to charge my husband and I $1100 per month, needless to say-we remain uninsured:x

When my wife quit work to stay home with the baby, it was cheaper for us to go thru Blue Cross Blue Shield, then to have them added to my work policy. We never had a problem with BLue Cross Blue Shield.

While we were insured by BCBS thru my husbands employer we did not have any problems with their service either but trying to pay the $1100 out of pocket since he was laid off is a problem.

Yeah that is high. The price for wife and the baby was $375/mo at the start and raised to about $475 over 6 years. With my new company it was cheaper to have them on the work policy.

isnt there some kind of state plan you can get your kid on? not medicaid when i lived in florida they had kid care which costs me 20 a month in 2003. im not sure if they have one here, kid is grown. it would be cheaper than putting him or her on your plan.

It's so high thanks to my pre existing condition which is not right! That pre existing condition is exactly why I need insurance in the first place.
