My husband applied for a foreman position with a construction company but since he does not speak spanish fluently he does not qualify!! What BS:x-when I first came here from Germany I would have never ever expected you all to learn german so that I could understand you. To Hell with it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately since the majority of workers in contruction are hispanic, they are now requiring anyone in a supervisory position to speak and understand spanish. I agree it's not fair but a sign of the times.
I see your point. I still think that the requirement should be first that they speak english. If there would have been such a fuss made for me back then it probably would have took me much longer to learn the language, if ever since so many people are trying to speak mine instead even though I live in their country.
sure if you don't mind digging up old sewer lines for $14 per hour with no benefits:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: I'm sure that spanish will come in handy!
That's exactly how my mother felt when she moved here from Germany. One of my sister's friends' mother has been here since the 60's and still refuses to speak English. I'm not sure how much English she has learnedover the years, but she will not try to speak anything but Spanish (according to her daughter).
I believe that by not speaking the language of the country that you are living in you are isolating yourself and you are also missing out on mingling with the natives and becoming part of your new country. Please say Hallo to your Mom from me,where in Germany is she from?
I learned Spanish in less than a year through some CDs I ordered. I speak fluently now. Necisito saber espanol! I have to as a lawyer. Many of my clients speak Spanish. Sign of the times for sure!
If we deported all the illegal’s today there would be 12 million job openings tomorrow. If we enforced the law on their employment with serious employer fines we'd have a million jobs paid for in the enforcement agency and every job they vacate. The requirement for the second language would all but disappear. The problem is the virus hasn't worked its way into the jobs of the above average worker. Illegal’s can attend college and get degrees now. Give it time and you'll hear the screaming all the way to DC when they start taking those above average jobs. At that point it's too late. I'll learn Spanish to get an American job when you force me to fly the Mexico flag above the American flag. Any employer who requires a second language to communicate with illegal workers is unpatriotic and should be publicly labeled as such. We can stop the problem. Before you hand your money to any business ask them, "Would you sign an affidavit stating that you do not employee illegals?" and then post it on your wall? Now we know who to give our money too.
:iagree: Now you've just gone and ticked off every bleeding heart liberal on here...lol. Get ready for an ear full. Bottom line is this has to stop. I'm am so tired of it. We as Americans are getting screwed by our government and WE do nothing about it. Wake up people, this should tick off all of you.
Nah, I think I am about the only "Bleeding Heart" on here who thinks we should allow these folks to become citizens (the ones who will work for a living, which happens to be the majority of them).
let them all stay, after paying a HUGE fine and going through the proper channels to get legal, and then pay back for all the free services like medical and school. and no more press 1 for english:iagree:
