Granted, many of the illegal workers are good people and I see your point. But, at what cost? The laws of immigration are explicitly applied to stem exactly what has happen. In their dream of becoming an American, by side stepping the laws, they have caused a loss of employment and income for many natural citizens who created the very industries they work in.

If you aren't fortunate enough to have been included in the group of workers affected, at least stand up for your fellow 'legal' citizens and support our attempt to get our jobs back from law breakers. Or have you grown accustomed to the benefits of our loss thru illegal action?

Would you rather we unionize, bring legal course against them and then stick it to you in higher prices when we win? Because if you're not with us .... you're against us.

Here's where your good will for illegals goes array. Much of the money earned by illegals is wired out of this country and never sees the money circle in our communities. Many of their salaries are cash. Take the economical affect of the unemployment they have created, the effect of no salary tax, the wired money, and you have the start of something really bad when they finally hit your profession.

Aren't fortunate enough to get caught up in the current job situation??? My companies primary business is automotive based and we are looking at our continued existence on a month to month basis.

Regarding the immigration issue, I do have a problem with our borders not being protected. However for those have been here a while, doing those jobs most of us were "to good to do" who have worked hard, I don't think we should just kick them aside when things get a little rough. Most of these folks are just trying to survive and I don't blame them for jumping the border to the USA, if they are willing I think this batch of immigrants should be able to join those that proceeded them and contribute to the building/improvement of this country.

Regarding the sending of funds back to their families, haven't most immigrants done this?

what i said about them staying here, they wouldnt have the money to pay back everything they used and the cost to become legal, in other words they would have to go back and then start paperwork to come here legally if they even could. and limit how many do come

I agree with most of what you say here. Employers are certainly equally guilty. Employers who are willing to look the other way when documents are not in order certainly profit by hiring illegals for less, and the illegals have few options. They're willing to live in conditions most of us would not consider fit for ourselves and our families, that's why they work for less. And employers get to pocket a higher amount of profit.

The people we are talking about are human beings and deserve to be treated as such. They have been encouraged to come here by a broken system. Fixing the system means fixing all parts of the broken system, including employers who hire illegals.

We also need to keep in mind that not every hispanic looking person we see is an illegal alien. Some are here legally, some are even citizens.

I think this discussion has gotten away a bit from my original post.
I personally don't have anything against Mexicans after all I'm an immigrant myself:p but the thing that annoyed me was the thought of my husband being required to speak spanish in order to qualify for the job as a foreman for an American company:jester:

That is the right of a company to decide, is it not? They may require an employee to have certain skills for a job especially if the majority of their job might require those skills. As it stands most of the workers in several areas of our economy do speak spanish and anyone supervising them would need to also be bilingual.

The same for pressing 1 to get English, a company chooses to accomodate a large portion of their potential customer base.

Unless and until the American workers are willing to take the jobs for the same pay as the Hispanic workers will, the companies will continue to hire the cheaper labor force. Some of these are illegals so they could be impacted by the enforcement of current laws, but not all fall into that category.
