Anyone know how long it takes to drive there from here (exit 312)? My son leaves tomorrow & my husband is driving him all the way to the camp. It's at the Nantahala Outdoor Center if that helps anyone. We have directions but wondering if anyone has actually driven it. Wish we had the money, we'd camp out nearby. Have to go & bring him home on Sunday. Sounds like a wonderful place. Let me know if any of you have been before. Thanks.

It's a beautiful place. You can make it in 5 hours, but I would allow a little more in case of traffic, construction, whatever.

Thanks a bunch! I-40 to 74, right? I'm jealous he's actually going--LOL. All kinds of fun activities he's going to get to experience. Should be a really nice time. I might be able to put up a link. Sometimes they say the local news comes & shoots a story as it is an amputee camp. If they do, I'll put up a link. I've also heard it is just gorgeous out that way. Hoping to visit one year. Thanks for the info on the time.

Yes, I-40 to 74. It's good road all the way. Sounds like it will be a great experience for him. I love the mountains. DH grew up in Bryson City, and his grandmother lived there, so we went there often years ago. I still try to get there a few times a year.
