I like all of this except the walking in someone's house without knocking!!! I don't even want my mom to do that.
Southerners are nosey, I'm being serious, my neighbor had mentioned it to me which peaked my curiosity on the matter and for the most part it's spot on. I think the acting friendly thing is a way of trying to pry into your buisness so they can have something to gossip about.
Come on, admit you are cookieforme. By the way, I know some nosey Yankees in my neighborhood. Nosey isn't a southern or northern thing. The first Yankee I met when we moved here said she'd let me in on all the neighborhood gossip (I was thinking...no thank you). I don't judge all Yankees on her behavior. There are bad apples everywhere.
Sorry, but I take offense to saying 'southerners' are nosey. I'm sure there were nosey folks in NY too. :?
I highly doubt your neighbors give a rat's butt about your "business". Ego much? Bless your heart. 8)
Same here...........the "yankee" neighbors were the ones to tell me who did this and who does that in our neighborhood. My southern neighbors , they ride by in there big ole jacked up 4X4 and yell welcome to the neighborhood. I like my southern neighbors better!!!
who said anything about my business? I made a general comment, the friendliness that Southerners pride themselves on is only an attempt to pry into peoples lives, thats my opinion. Remember that the next time you bake cookies for the new neighbor and try to invite yourself into their house to take a peak around.
You did! LOL. I've never invited myself into anyone's house. Although I have had it done to me. Oh, and they were a dang yankee. So there! Rudeness is universal, not just Southern. 8)
I like you but you may want to go back and read my first post, I said nothing of a first hand experience with you nosey southerners.
It used to be more common than it is now. But no, I don't actually do that or know anyone who does anymore.
First yankees wont even give you the time of day and now we're walking into peoples houses uninvited, whatever suits your arguement.
The problem is you are grouping all yankees into one catergory and all southerns into one category. People are people. Why do you live here and what keeps you from going back up north? If I lived up north, even if I didn't like it, I'd respect the people. Afterall, it would be me that's moved to their part of the country, not the other way around.
My grandma used to do it when I was little and it would make my mom so mad! She'd open the door and say "Yooo hooooo" - It was like nails scratching down a chalk board.
