She was sent home as I posted earlier but not after she had served customers. He boss should have let her go immediately instead of telling her she would be ok.
The Andy's vs. Cook-Out thing is a legitimate comparion. Both are North Carolina based operations, however pricing is a major variant. Andy's charges considerably more and is mostly dine-in whereas most Cook-Outs I've seen are drive-thru/walk-up service with a few exceptions. Goldsboro and Wilson have dine-in service. Andy's kids meals have always included those cars. Because my son is car freak, he likes them long enough to abuse them a bit and then its trash. FWIW, another burger joint--Steak & Shake--also uses the carboard cars for kids meals. I like Steak & Shake, too but like Andy's, they seem to be a bit too pricey. I like Andy's big bacon burger, but to be honest...I've never cared for their fries and their onion rings are merely decent. For the price, its overrated IMHO. Its so close to being what it should be, but you can roll through Cook-Out and spend less with just as tasty (if not more so) food. One thing I think Andy's really needs to do is to do away with the need for wait staff. I think its the wrong type of restaurant to have customers compelled to tip on an already pricier menu. Andy's really should change to an old format of picking up your order yourself when yyour number is called like Grill '57. That's the way most of the old small-town burger joints used to be anyway.
I rec'd this email today from Andy's HQ: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello ******* Family: Thanks for taking time to contact us. I was concerned to hear about your experiences in our 40/42 location. I'm not sure why you experienced the problems you encountered, but obviously we were not on our game during your visits. The situations you describe are certainly not our normal operating procedure. We were aware of the problems listed with the previous management. We have just recently installed one of our senior franchisees in that location to rectify the problems so folks should be seeing a change now. Thanks again for taking time to make us aware, and I will forward this link to him for reply. In addition, I will forward your letter to Amy Lancaster, our office administrator. She will contact the manager, area auditor, and owner to make sure we take the proper steps to ensure the staff knows they missed critical service opportunities, and disappointed friends and guests. Someone should follow up with you soon. Thanks again for your time to make us aware of the situation, and we'll get it corrected. Please accept my apologies, and we would certainly appreciate your forgiveness for our shortcomings. I would certainly like to be able to look forward to your next visit in hopes we can do our best to make this up to you. Regards, Neal Dennis, COO Andy's Burgers, Shakes, and Fries www.andysburgers.net -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As it turns out, one of the folks Mr. Dennis copied (and to whom he has given the responsibility for this place) is a classmate of C6's, and a football teammate of mine. And, with his expereince tasting the best shrimpburgers in the world at El's Drive In in Morehead City, he knows what good fast food is supposed to taste like. So, we went back. Today! Seems a completley different place. Was clean. (floor needs buffing but that's the soldier in me ranting about tile floors needing attention). Jacob was our server. Great service. Food was quickly delivered, and tasted good. Cus-My Friend dessert=happy camper. In short, the corporation has rapidly responded. We salute them for that and can only hope that they maintain this level of attention. H6
I got takeout from there tonight (obviously before I saw this thread). Seriously, don't get takeout from there. I got home and was just flabbergasted to see that cheese fries had been dumped into a paper bag. And the burger was undercooked. So it quickly found its way to the garbage bin. Oh, but the summer eye candy was a treat. If I was a tween, I'd totally be hanging out at the counter of that Andy's.
thank you...oh, that's right, I was in a booth...LOL Do call them and let them know about your order. I really believe they want to fix things. Their only choice is to be the first fast food joint at 40-42 to close.
I hate to bash anyone's business but I agree this place is filthy. I walked in there a few months back to get dinner for my family and I walked right back out. I'd rather eat off my bathroom floor than eat there.
My daughter and I went in there for lunch today. Overall impression was, it looked a little grungy. We took a seat, and found the table was sticky. Decided to move to another table - it was stickier. We left.
My son and I ate at the one in Clayton the other week. Food was decent, the place was clean. Not my favorite place by any means, but once in a while, DS wants to go there.
Cook-Out is going to beat their time. The more I eat there, the more I like it. Plus, its cheaper. I ate at the one in Goldsboro last week and this is in Andy's backyard. They had cars lined up around the building and not one table available inside to sit down at for supper. You either had to wait for a table or take out.
I hope it was a celebration lunch! But then again you probably would have chosen a better restaurant.
No, she didn't get the job. They said the engineering manager liked her so much they want to offer her the next opening. Big consolation.
That's a shame! She is in the same bind I am, to overqualified for most jobs but not qualified enough for the ones we are suited for! I remember being told during the Regan recession that I was overqualified and underqualified in the same interview!
the last time i got food from cook out i got a wrap and it was so hard that i couldn't eat it. was very disappointed since everyone on here talks about how good they are.
Well, if it makes you feel any better..............I'm not crazy about their food. Shakes are good, burgers and such..............ehhh.
I've never tried the wraps so I don't know much about them. Cook-Out's burgers remind me of the traditional hometown burger joint. No fancy wrappers, just wrapped in aluminum foil. Sure, I guess there food isn't for everyone. However, everything I've eaten from there--at different locations--has been on-the-money consistent. If you like the taste, the consistency and affordablity it what keeps you coming back. My wife loves watermelon (I hate it myself) but everything she goes, she gets the watermelon shake and it has an abundance of watermelon chunks in the bottom...everytime. The only shake I've tried so far is the peanut butter. Now if you like PB, its good. Next up is the key lime pie when I feel like cheating a little bit.
Its just a matter of time before that Andy's closes. I never see cars in the lot anymore. Besides Cookout takin all the business, its in a terrible location.
