I think it was always in the back of his mind what he would do if he ever found himself in a situation with the police. Getting pulled over is a rather common occurrence, no? I hazard to guess he would have had the same response if he had been pulled over. He would have cried racial profiling. From all of his comments his entire career has been about "shedding light" or something to that effect on race relations. He jumped on the first opportunity to cry racial bias even though that wasn't the case. Who do you think contacted the media after his arrest? The media doesn't just pick up disorderly conduct cases unless someone alerts them to it. My money is on the Gates camp.

It would have established precedence is what it would have done. Obviously they weren't able to de-esculate it. Right or wrong they did what the law said they should. As stated by someone elsewhere on this thread, you can bet if it was a hispanic or white they would have been arrested a bit quicker. Now I just heard on ABC that Crowly has agreed to a beer at the White House. Let's see how long it takes Gates to milk this!!!!!!!

No, they couldn't de-esculate because you can't put a fire out by putting gas on it. Leave and situation is over. Wonder if you could find even one instance where a homeowner in that town has been arrested for yelling on their front porch and being a mad, and convicted. It is not a racial issue, it is property rights issue.

Evidently the higher ups disagreed since they had the charges dropped.

The question is how many of those officers outranked him, with him being a Sgt. and an instructor. A beat officer isn't going to tell one of his supervisors that he shouldn't make an arrest.

As I expected before I even posted, I knew you'd come up with some form of disagreement. The higher ups were afraid of Obama. As I've insinuated before, what a pile of crap. Throw the idiot in jail and throw the key away. Bunch of bleeding heart liberals. Wawawawawawwawawa:beathorse::beathorse::beathorse::beathorse::beathorse::beathorse::beathorse:

And as I expected before I posted, you would not have a thought-out reasonable response to my post. Once you engage in name calling, you're lost the argument. Good day, thanks for playing.

One report stated there were six total from both Cambridge and the campus.

I doubt that, but you will believe what you want in any case.

Supposedly it is in some areas if you are black. Of course, it would probalbey have been his driver getting pulled over if the articles were accurate.

Which it could be, could it not?

Seen from his perspective it very well could have appeared so, but that whole absolute knowledge thing only works for you, right?

and not the person who took the picture hoping to seel it to them? No! That could not be the case at all.

Don't credit me, credit "Doc" Bonds the civics teacher and debate coach at South Johnston in the 70s. What he always said the first day of debate club.

You think Gates was a total innocent and we should all feel bad for him? That's no surprise at all. I'm not going to go round and round with someone who is of that opinion because it is useless.

No, I think he was out of line, but he did not break the law.

Gates was an a hole who should've shut his mouth and well Obama had no business even talking about it..

Racism is often more in those that scream it...

Here's a funny little story that happened to me when DH was active duty. I interviewed for a job at the BX on base, housewares Dept. Dept Manager was a black lady, I am white (shocker there! LOL). I get the job. 2nd day, one of the other dept employees, who is from the Dominican Republic, informs me that the dept head came to her and asked HER to pick between me and another applicant who happened to be black since she would be would be working with us more closely and we were both equally qualified. She picks me. Guess what? She was black and informed me she "didn't like American blacks." I nearly dropped my teeth and started looking for a new job. BTW, that dept head hollered "racism" every single time upper management had anything negative to say to her. No matter what, her reasoning was "it was because she's black." I wish I was making that up. :?
